 If you live in the South (TX, FL, etc), regular A/C unit should generally do an OK job of controlling humidity, but if you want an additional de-humidification capacity, you’re much better off investing in a portable A/C unit. Most of them have a de-humidification mode and typically draw out comparable amount of moisture. The other great benefit there is that they pump the heat outside (through the window exhaust) resulting in cool dry air inside.  Back to comparison

 So I made it as snug as I could by hand and operated the unit but I stood by because I 99% expected it to leak. And it did. So I removed the hose and checked it on another hose connection and it does not leak there and the gasket is in good condition and still soft and pliable. So all I can attribute it to is the threads on the hOmelabs dehumidifier at this time

 I planned on using the hose to drain the water into the condenstate pump for the AC unit where it will be pumped away.

 I will obtain another hose and see if that gets any tighter on the connection but I doubt that will be any different than this hose.  Also disappointed to see the price drop $10 the very next day. On top of the leaking hose connection so far I am not impressed with this purchase even though the dehumidifier itself seems to be working.  I was within the first 30 days after buying it. I assumed that if the product is defective I don't have to pay for returning it, but I was wrong. Amazon told me (online) that I have to pay. When I tried the third-party company who shipped it (VidaZen) they never responded

 I've had this unit for just over a month now and so far so good. So it will be interesting as time marches on will it be just as efficient in filling up it's bucket in about 6 hours and or continue to run for the next 4 years. So far I am happy with it, it's doing what it's supposed to, it's more quiet than my previous units but then I don't spend much time in my dungeon err I mean basement unless I am building something and it just sounds like a fan running.

 I have had 2 previous units and I seem to get about 4 years of use out of them running 24x7 365 The first 2 units were labeled Frigidaire but are made by Electrolux. Oldest Model 1 FDL50S1 50pints a day Just died Model 2 FAD704DWD12 70 pints a day During the summer months it's very humid where I live so the units for some reason tend not to use the hose where I have it drain to a sump pump, it just fills up the bucket. Annoying to say the least because I have to take that water and throw it out so the dehumidifier can start doing it's job again due to the bucket is full and it turns off the unit. It would take my previous units about 12 to 15 hours to fill up their internal buckets
