I want a shoe that has the cushion and drop of my Hoka Speedgoat with the toebox of my Altra Olympus 4.0.

Beware they do run very narrow at the toe and are not for everyone. If you needed the extra toe room you could look to the Hoka EVO Speedgoat,. EVO Mafate 2 or the Mafate Speed 3, all of which are high cushioned but have a stretchy bit of fabric over the toe, which can make the fit more accommodating.

I currently run in Nike Pegasus Trail Gore Tex. they are ok. But not great.

Shoes for long days of running &amp; hiking

I’ve done a couple ultras in loose snow, which felt a lot like running in sand to me. I’ve used both the SpeedCross and Hoka SpeedGoat. The ‘goats might have had the advantage due to the much wider sole helping with flotation, but I felt they got a lot heavier when wet. In all instances I studded the soles with about 8 sheet metal screws at the end of some select lugs, which I felt helped with a little extra grip even when ice wasn’t an issue

Wondering if anyone had any advice about shoes that may be better suited for sandy environments. I’m used to running in rocky, rooty, muddy Vermont environments and want to be better prepared for a trail that is relatively flat but very sandy. Recommendations for trail shoes for sand

For years I wore boots (really heavy), then shoes (heavy) and now trail runners (not so heavy). I prefer the Hoka One Speedgoat trail runners. They are good for dry conditions, have great grip and stability (for me). I have never had ankle stability issues, so it works great

Does anyone backpack with trail running shoes? If boots, do you use actual “backpacking” boots or just something with ankle support?

, (4) have great cushioning for all-day wear on sharp surfaces, and (5) are not so heavy that I feel like I'm fighting the shoe when picking up the pace. I've run in Altra Timps and Lone Peaks, Brooks Caldera 4, La Sportiva Jackal, Salomon Sense Ride 3, and Topo MTN Racer 1s and none of these had all-day underfoot cushioning and protection against sharps like the Speedgoats. The durability of my Speedgoats have been good.

New trail running shoes

I run in the Speedgoat 3s and the Speedgoat 4 is a step back for me with regards to weight since it got heavier. The Speedgoat Evo on the other hand, is a huge improvement and superior to the Speedgoat 3 and 4.

For 3 season hiking I chose Hoka speedgoat 3, followed very closely by the brooks cascadia. They're both VERY comfortable shoes that are light and breath + dry very well. Lightness + Breathability + Drying quickly > a heavy gnarly boot that tries to keep you clean and dry but inevitably will get water logged from sweat anyway or the elements, just might take longer vs a trail runner. Also 1 pound on your foot is 5 pounds on your back

I'm  new to hiking but my girlfriend finally convinced me to go to a hiking  trip with her, somewhere around Schönau am Königssee and on the mountain area around it (nothing extreme tho). I've been looking for some proper shoes cause I'm  pretty sure I would regret it if I go with my ultra boost, and I've  found a few alternative:

1. Salomon  Quest Prime GTX: The only boots. Is it okay or overkill? I think it's  the most robust of them all and I can wear it when hiking during winter  or ski vacation. (114 euro)
2. Salomon  XA Pro 3D V8: trail runners, seems really comfy. However, no  waterproofness (can't use it in winter). I don't know if it offers  enough protection and grip? (96 euro)
3. Salomon  Trailster 2 GTX: quite similer to the XA, with GTX waterproofness.  However I've heard some controversy regarding GTX on trail runners (too  warm, sweaty feet). (72 euro)
4. Last  but not least: Merell Moab 2 (vents or GTX). Mother of all boots.  Almost bought the vents one immediately but read that it's really,  really prone to getting wet (even with just some wet grass). Not sure if  it's true and if I should just get the GTX version. Both around 80-90  euro.

What do you guys  think? Sadly I can't go to Globetrotter cause of the 'rona. I appreciate  any answer or if you have other suggestions, I would be very thankful!  Thanks and sorry for the long post. :)

I think salomon would be more versatile and less of an overkill but let&#39;s see. Kinda tempted of the idea of having  &quot;real&quot; boots in addition to my Timbs for winter :)</p>

 I find a few shoes sit up really high against my ankle. These don't and the tpu heel piece yeah. Well we're going to talk about this and they list two technologies and it's these two technologies that stand out as trademark for puma. First is the nitro foam

 I feel like the locked in heel and mid foot, allow the shoe to have that little bit of play in the toe box, so that there's no slippage, i don't feel like. I'Ve got too much space at all. I wasn't gripping at the bottom of the shoe to stop any foot slippage. Also, i haven't noticed any rubbing against any of my toes the fit

 It will cover you for almost everything i really like this shoe and i'm starting to think it will become my main work or shoe, especially with how comfortable it feels [, Music, ], so [, Music ]. Do we really have to warn people that there's a gutter on the side of the trail when we're in bushland [, Music ] a bit of dirt? On my knees, that's what you get when you're running the run: [, Music, ] 

Puma Velocity NItro 2 Review: All In One?

Puma Nitro series I think looks killer. Big fan of the Nike Invincible and Infinity 2 colorways, but I've never in in them. Also, I want the Takumi Sen 8 just for looks, not that I need it!

What are your favourite running shoes in terms of design?

 It'S really good. It seems really good stuff to me like it makes for a really lightweight foam, but still quite a comfortable cushioned ride allows you to put a decent stack on without making the shoe overly heavy. There'S. Also, this kind of plastic clip at the back here and unlike the dv8 nitro, which does use the um nitro foam, as you can tell by the name, there's also another layer of foam here

 I was really excited for that and i really loved using it this i came to really not knowing much about it, not knowing what to expect and i've been blown away, um really really impressed by the lusty nitro. I think puma has done a great job in pulling together this shoe because under 100 pounds, you're getting a lot for your money and there's not that many shoes under 100 pounds that really do tick. A lot of boxes there's some quite good shoes. But i think this really does a great job just offering a lot of those kind of features that you expect from a more expensive shoe, but for under 100 pounds, which is an exceptionally cheap price for a shoe of this quality and for puma's return to the World of kind of high level running, i think this is a brilliant start and i it's excellent value for anyone

 I'Ve tried after brooke's dna flash in the kind of hyperion tempo and hyperion elite two. This is a lot softer than that um, but it is the same kind of a style of foam. It'S really good. Puma Velocity Nitro Review: The best running shoe under £100?

 It is, i said, puma they have come on with a you know. I don't want to say with a vengeance, we're a good vengeance in a good way to the running shoe scene in 2021. Here we go 50 mile full review on the nose neutral road running shoe 10 millimeter drop all right 33 in the heel, 23 in the forefoot for a medium-ish stack height, all right women, size, eight men, size, nine on your screen and let's just confirm in my Size i was a little hard on the scorer for the puma velocity nitro. Let'S go 8

The the fresh foam or v3, which i just mentioned, it's um, it's it's so bulky, it's a bigger shoe, it's just not quite in the same category, i'm not spotting it same with, like the invincible from nike. I thought about putting the invincible on the screen, but we're just going to do two. Those two, those other two shoes are just a little too uh they're

 You got going here, puma onto that midsole we're looking at a nitrogen infused, p e b, a based midsole, and it is soft durometer score very soft. It'S squeaking, 100 percent. Is it softer than the rebel v2 from new balance? Let'S just hold on hold on hold on it's not, but it's close, it's not softer than the rebel v2. For that durometer score

4 in my size, not horrible, but could improve in 2022 puma 6 out of 10 we're looking at an engineered mesh fully gusseted tongue. Oh so good, lock down epic there's the score so comfortable. The tongue not too thick, not too thin. All right sits right on top of the front of the foot just perfectly, and the collar of the shoe couldn't be more comfortable

Puma Velocity Nitro Bringing Running Shoe Goodness to 2021

 We have a lightweight and thin mesh here with plenty of room in the toe box. It didn't feel too wide or too long. It kind of felt. Just right, but still giving me plenty of room for my toes to wiggle around in here in the tongue

 Relying a little bit more on fit to keep the foot secure in the shoe rather than hardware, to keep things from moving around all together. This shoe comes in at a relatively light stated weight of 8.8 ounces. Now, let's talk about what it was like to run in this shoe, i really did enjoy running in the velocity nitro ii

 There is a tpu heel cup back here, but it's a pretty small one uh towards the top of the heel. It gets pretty floppy in the shoe, which is generally something that i like you're. Relying a little bit more on fit to keep the foot secure in the shoe rather than hardware, to keep things from moving around all together. This shoe comes in at a relatively light stated weight of 8

 It just felt like it was very secure in here without a feeling tight without it feeling like it, was going to potentially lead to any sort of kind of chafing, or anything like that. The half marathon distance that i took it on right out of the box. I didn't have any of those kinds of problems the fit and the padding is very well placed. I feel like they did a lot of thinking about exactly how this heel cup was going to fit on a person's foot and it definitely felt very snug in a kind of a warm embrace kind of a way overall at the 120 dollar price point, puma has A solid daily trainer on their hands and i think it's one of those workhorse kinds of shoes where you're just going to be able to throw miles at it
