The Hisense 75U9DG is the best 75 inch HDR TV we've tested. It delivers stunning picture quality in dark rooms, and it looks almost as good as OLED TVs. It uses a unique dual panel technology that stacks two LCD panels on top of each other. It helps it achieve the best contrast ratio we've tested on any LED TV, and there's minimal blooming around bright objects, which is important for watching HDR movies in dark rooms.

It displays a wide color gamut and has great out-of-the-box accuracy, so colors appear as they should. Its HDR peak brightness is okay overall, and it gets bright with small highlights, so they pop the way the creator intended, but large areas of bright colors are increasingly dim. It's only available in a 75 inch size, and it's well-built with a stylish design that looks good in any setup, and its metal feet support the large screen well.

Unfortunately, there are some banding issues in scenes with shades of similar color, like a sunset. Also, fast-moving content looks blurry due to its slow response time, but this is more of an issue in games or movies with a ton of action. The best LED TV for movies we've tested is the Hisense U9DG. It's a unique TV that uses dual cell panel technology, and because of this, it produces the best contrast we've tested on any LED TV, as it displays extremely deep blacks with almost no blooming around bright objects. It looks nearly as good as OLEDs, and you don't get the risk of permanent burn-in.

It's fantastic for watching movies in dark rooms because of its deep blacks, and the full-array local dimming feature is also incredible. It makes bright objects pop a lot, and it doesn't crush any blacks either, so scenes with stars or other small bright objects appear as they should. Its overall HDR peak brightness is just okay, but that's because it loses brightness with larger areas of bright colors, and it's still good enough to provide an excellent HDR experience. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content, so you can easily stream your favorite HDR content.

Sadly, it's only available in a 75 inch size, so don't get it if you're limited on space. Also, it's not versatile for other uses as it has a slow response time and low input lag, so it's not good for competitive gaming. The gradient handling is also only decent, and you'll notice banding in scenes with shades of similar colors, which is disappointing. If this doesn't bother you, it's one of the best TVs for movies that we've tested.

The best HDR LED TV we've tested is the Hisense U9DG. It's an amazing TV for watching content in HDR as it supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and it has exceptional picture quality that's better than most LED TVs. It makes highlights pop while delivering dark room performance that rivals OLED TVs. However, it's only available in a 75 inch size, which is disappointing if you don't have the space for such a large TV.

They release separate lineups in different regions, and the North American models we've tested aren't available internationally. Even though some models have similar names in other regions, they're completely different. Hisense has a relatively small TV lineup, but they all offer great value for their price, and they're better than the competition in terms of value. The Hisense U9DG is their 2021 flagship 4k model, and it's a very unique TV. It combines two LCD panels to achieve a much higher contrast and better local dimming than most LED LCD TVs are capable of, resulting in deep, uniform blacks that look almost as good as an OLED TV.

This unique design has a few issues, though, as it has a slow response time and relatively high input lag, resulting in blurry motion, so it's not ideal for watching sports or playing games. The mid-range 4k Hisense models, including the Hisense U8G and Hisense U7G, have a great selection of gaming features, including HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and variable refresh rate technology support. However, they also suffer from strange motion issues, like red ghosting. In terms of picture quality, most Hisense TVs perform well, with high contrast ratios that look great in dark rooms and high peak brightness, so HDR content looks great and bright highlights stand out. Most of their 4k models use quantum dot technology, so HDR content looks vivid and life-like. Although some of their TVs have Roku TV, like the Hisense U800GR 8k, most use the Android TV platform instead.

Before that, they started as a Chinese electronics company in the 1980s, and they've since expanded into making different consumer electronics, from smartphones to soundbars. For many years TCL TVs were known for their Roku TV smart platform. Unlike LG and Samsung, TCL doesn't use a proprietary platform and instead uses either Roku TV or Google TV, depending on the model. Both options have a great selection of streaming apps, but the Google TV platform offers a more polished interface, while some people find that Roku is easier to use. Even though most of their 2020 models included Roku, their 2021 lineup focused on Google TV, and they continued producing their 2020 TVs, so this means that you can choose whichever platform you prefer the most.

Considering their TVs don't cost a lot, they compete with other budget-friendly brands like Hisense and Vizio. TCL offers a wide range of TVs, including small 720p and 1080p models, which are rare now and are great if you need a simple TV for a small room or a kitchen. Their mid-range TCL 5 Series/S546 2021 QLED and high-end TCL 6 Series/R646 2021 QLED use Mini LED backlighting, which provides finer control of the local dimming zones and higher peak brightness, but even on the R646, their local dimming implementation is only decent. This means that TCL is still behind other brands for dark room performance. They release a wider range of models internationally, and like Hisense, their U.S. models aren't available in other regions.

The TCL 6 Series/R646 2021 QLED is the best sounding TV with an LED panel that we've tested. Having an LED TV is good if you're worried about the burn-in risk associated with OLEDs, so you can constantly watch your favorite news or sports channel and not worry about damaging the screen. It has a decent frequency response with a well-balanced sound profile that delivers clear dialogue. It gets very loud, with very little distortion, even at max volume.

If you're planning on using an external soundbar or home theater system, it supports eARC audio passthrough and all major formats, including DTS, meaning you can get the best sound possible from any external source. Looking at the picture quality, it performs well in dark and bright environments because it gets bright enough to fight glare from bright sources and displays deep blacks in dark rooms. It has a Mini LED local dimming feature, but it doesn't seem that effective at improving the picture quality in dark scenes.

Unfortunately, it's not a good choice to watch DVDs because it has trouble upscaling 480p content properly. Still, it doesn't have any issues with content from cable boxes, Blu-rays, or native 4k content, which is great. It also has narrow viewing angles, so the image looks washed out from the sides. Overall, it's the best sounding TV in the LED category that we've tested.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on the best of the best or if your room doesn't have direct sunlight, it's better to go for a mid-range model that's cheaper and performs well in bright rooms. If that's what you're looking for, the TCL 6 Series/R646 2021 QLED is the best TV for bright room viewing in the mid-range category we've tested. Like the Hisense U8H, it has Mini LED backlighting, and although it doesn't get as bright with some scenes, the peak brightness is still fantastic, and the reflection handling is excellent.

This TV has good out-of-the-box accuracy, so you won't need to get it calibrated unless you need perfect colors, and it also displays a wide range of colors. It's a good choice for watching HD cable channels, Blu-rays, and native 4k content because it displays them without issues, but it has some problems with 480p content, like from DVDs. If you watch a lot of DVDs, the Hisense U8H is a better choice.

If you want to future-proof your next TV, the TCL 6 Series/R648 2021 8k QLED is the best 8k Roku TV we've tested. It's a great TV with excellent contrast and a decent full array local dimming feature, resulting in deep blacks in a dark room. The high peak brightness helps it deliver an impressive HDR experience overall, as bright highlights stand out well from the background. It also respects the content creator's intent well, as it follows the PQ EOTF well and has great tone mapping in HDR. It has an excellent wide color gamut and good color volume, so HDR content looks incredibly vivid and lifelike.

It's an excellent gaming monitor with a quick response time and low input lag, so your games feel responsive, and they look great, with very little ghosting behind fast-moving objects. It has a good selection of gaming features, including variable refresh rate support and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, allowing for 4k @ 120Hz gaming with the Xbox Series S|X and the PS5. Unfortunately, though, there's very little 8k content available, so almost everything you watch will be upscaled, so the overall picture quality is a bit worse than the TCL 6 Series/R635 2020 QLED, especially if you're watching cable TV or older content on DVDs.

 I just use an Apple TV connected to it and use the Apple TV remote to turn it on and off. Another downside is the Apple TV remote wont change the volume on the tv like it did my old one. This should no longer be an issue when I get my new receiver, but definitely a negative.

  I think it would be nice if it could go brighter for watching tv during the day. The only reason it didnt get 5 stars is because its a Roku tv, which means the only remote that comes with it is a normal crappy Roku remote. This remote sucks. Like its the worst remote ever

 The operating system sucks and the remote only registers about 1 in 4 clicks no matter how hard you press or how long you wait between clicks. Its worthless. UI is easy and the remote is great, just need to get rid of the netflix,disney,hulu,and sling shortcut buttons..makes more room for the buttons u only need to have on a remote.

my old 4 series had better sound from speakers..i have same settings on my 6 as on my 4 series.

 In this age of instant responses, this OS is not. Moving between videos and selecting one; or another provider is like watching the little clock go around 4 or 5 times.

The little TCL remote was non-responsive way too often. I downloaded the TCL app on my phone which was reliable and instant. I preferred it, and set aside the remote.

When you first turn it on, you have to pair the remote to the TV.   The remote barely worked, I had to press the button 10 times to get it to do anything.  It took me over 10 minutes to enter my email address.  I even tried new batteries

  Luckily, I installed the Remote Control app on my phone and I was able to navigate around.  I decided to try re-pairing the remote to the TV and viola! it starting working normally.

Day two, I turn the TV on and the audio sounds like its under water, quiet and tinny.   I tried different streaming services, inputs, mute, volume control and turning it off and on.  No luck.  I decided to unplug it and plug it back in
