The most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on was a Helix Midnight Luxe and it was incredible. But half way through the trial I felt like I had descended INTO the mattress (I’m 250lb).

Please, for the love of god. Can someone who knows what they’re talking about give me a recommendation. Iv been on this sub for 2 hours and while there is a tun of information, I’m where I was before I started.

 We still haven’t found a bed we are sure we are going to keep. But the Winkbed Softer and Helix Midnight Luxe seem to be the best we’ve tried so far.

So I’ve recently been put in the position to buy a new mattress for myself, moving to a new city and finally having a nice budget to get something I like. Previously I’ve just inherited mattresses from parents or friends and I’ve always hated them, but couldn’t afford to buy something myself. Always too firm (I’m 5’6” and 120 lbs, everything felt like a rock). I bought a cheap $200 mattress while having a limited budget and supplemented with toppers. 

So time to get something I really liked for once! I was super excited to see my options. Little did I know what a disaster online shopping for mattresses is. Everything is an ad, every YouTube review or blog is affiliated and paid for, and always vague in description to capture anyone who stumbles upon the review. 

Lurking here for a few days I learned more of what to avoid for myself but I’m so lost as to what will be a good fit for me. I don’t want to be scammed by these mattress brands and have something I dislike for several years. 

I’m 5’6” and 120 lbs, mostly side sleeper and sometimes stomach sleeper. Firm mattresses leave my shoulders and hips in pain. My bf is 6’ 190lbs and is a side and stomach sleeper too. We both run hot at night so something that’s not full foam would be better for us. We both like a softer plush mattress, king sized, like sleeping in a nice hotel bed, and have a decent budget of $1-2k to find something we will really love. 

From my research I feel like the best suited for us would be the Layla or the Nest Alexander Signature hybrids. Anyone have these and can vouch for them? Also I’m open to any suggestions on how to narrow down a mattress.

I had no idea what a scam the mattress industry is

 I slept very well and woke up pain free. This mattress was thoughtfully designed and very high quality. It is definitely worth the price! I would definitely purchase more from this brand in the future.

I got this for one of our guest bedrooms and I just had to test it out. This mattress is very comfortable. I slept very well and woke up pain free. This mattress was thoughtfully designed and very high quality

 Doesn't help that I am 80 lbs overweight (230 lbs). The mattress is too firm for me! Due to my weight I have to guess this mattress is probably not a good fit for a side sleeper? Tummy and back excellent. BUT don't let my guess sway you away as everyone sleeps differently AND most do not have ALL the health issues I do!  BEST PART: The company that sells this mattress are ABOVE EXCELLENT! They responded to my concerns within the HOUR of my first contact. They responded to my reply within a few hours! They went ABOVE and BEYOND to satisfied my concerns IMMEDIATELY (SAME DAY) and fulfilled them along with Amazon

 Previously I had been on the same memory foam mattress for the past 12 YEARS! Finally realized the over heating was due to the extremely LARGE hole the mattress would sink me into. Searched for a week for the right mattress and decided on this one. I have 2 broken disc in my spine, I also have a bad hip and shoulder accompanied by a pinched nerve in my back and finally fibromyalgia all over my body. Sleeping is difficult

 That mattress was starting to break down so I looked for other options and settled on the DreamCloud. The hybrid mattress combines the best of both worlds: the innerspring support and firmness with that hugging feeling of the memory foam. Hybrids, for me, at least, seem to be the way to go. The only negative is that the edges are not especially firm, but that is a minor issue with me, as I don't spend much time sitting on the side of the bed and at least it doesn't feel like you are on a slide

 This item is definitely priced well below competitors, especially if you can purchase it on sale, as I did, from the manufacturer. (The bundle of extras - sheets, protector and pillows - are not first quality, however, and it's hard to imagine paying more than $50-$75 for all of them, combined.) All in all, highly recommended, especially for those, like me, who prefer a firmer mattress, but can appreciate and enjoy a bit of that memory foam feel.

 I needed a mattress after giving mine to my son when he moved. I have been sleeping on a cot so when it arrived on Monday, 9/20, I was excited. The box was so beat up, I was afraid it was damaged, but I put it in top of a foundation and let it inflate per the instructions of 72 hours. 

 I took photos for this review, and as anyone can see it is only a12 inches in height, and not the 14 as stated.  Correction: it was received on Tuesday morning 9/20, so it has been 48 hours but has not inflated by anything over 12 inches!

 They have put me in some sort of a queue where I must wait for an email from some department to see what my options are. Bottom line, it was an inaccurate website description so there should be no question. I took photos for this review, and as anyone can see it is only a12 inches in height, and not the 14 as stated.  But keep pulling plastic away from mattress and cutting slowly down one side.  After I let the mattress air out for 24 hours, it was ready to sleep on. The mattress is firm, but it has a pillow type top that feels soft and comfortable. The firmness helps my body not sink into mattress, so I didn't heat up in the middle of the night

 The materials are comfortable and cool to the touch. No extra warming in the night with this mattress.

We ordered this mattress as a replacement for a 10 year old memory foam mattress that had become too compacted. We were hoping that a hybrid mattress would provide more support but not firm up as much as memory foam tends to do. It arrived in a pretty beat up box. In the future I would recommend the manufacturer ship this box inside another box for extra protection

I visited IKEA today and found the $500 Heston mattress (queen size). Curious if anyone has any experience with it, how it holds up, or any advice whatsoever. Thanks in advance!

my mother has severe spinal stenosis (several discs have broken down, she's had rods and screws installed with little benefit, as well as a torn glute repair. take care of your spines, kids.) she's 56, ~155, and sleeps on her back, prefers med-firm or firm. her gentleman companion says he's comfortable on whatever. while they were moving in together I bought them a zinus, warning them that it would break down fairly quickly and need to be replaced, and that it would be a pain when it did. the time has come.

she's up every night in serious pain, and sometimes doesn't bother trying to sleep at all. her job is very difficult and both emotionally and physically demanding, especially during covid. I don't feel like I can waste her time with a bunch of returns or DIYing something, though the zippered mattresses with layers seem doable.

she's willing to spend up to $3500 and is interested in latex or a latex hybrid for its lifespan. I'd like to avoid memory foam and memory foam hybrids because if the next mattress sags within five years I'm going to turn into the Joker.

currently looking at the Alexander nest hybrid or an Ikea hesstun mattress+good latex topper, since we live fairly close to an Ikea and a return would plausibly be easier than dealing with a mattress company.
