Luxury items— Nemo Fillio or Thermarest pillow are cush, a sleeping bag liner such as from Sea to Summit if temps are going to dip, and if you want a light backpacking chair the Helinox Chair Zero or REI Flexlite are nice to bring if you’re not doing huge miles. I’m looking for a solid 3 person free-standing tent that’s great in the rain and will last a long time.  Prioritizing durability and rain protection over lightness, but I do want to do some longer trips, so lightness does matter somewhat.

Solid, light, durable, sleeping bag for mostly 50 degrees and above nights.  Most of my camping would be in the warmer months and I live in Texas and won’t be making too many trips into the cold.  If I do, I can always get a separate coldweather sleeping bag. Recs appreciated for both since winter is coming.

Backpack - this is where I truly know nothing.  I’ve never backpacked before or even really worn one.  Maybe for this I’ll just go into REI this weekend to make sure it fits well and feels right.  But what would y’all recommend size-wise?  I’m a 5’ 10” 155 lb fit male who would like to eventually do some 5+ day wilderness trips.  I also want to go on some South America, Europe and south east Asia hostel and partying trips as well.  Prioritize wilderness backpacking capabilities though.  Is 50L enough, or would I need to look to 60L plus for 5+ day wilderness trips?

Where would you recommend I start looking brand wise, and if you have specific items that’d be wonderful.

Budget:  anywhere from 1500-3000 for all three.  Obviously I’d rather not spend a fortune if I can avoid it, but I’d probably rather buy something that will last ten plus years than have to re-up in five years.

I know this is asking a lot and y’all get these questions all the time, so any insight is highly appreciated!

 But it is actually a pretty good chair for what it’s meant for..backpack/hike chair.  I will keep it just in case I decide to try out some longer range backpack hikes (mainly for its weight)

 For Ultra-light backpacking it’s probably a very good product. Not really geared/priced at all for a ‘camping chair’ for sure. But it is actually a pretty good chair for what it’s meant for.

 For someone with a smaller frame, the Chair Zero might be exactly as comfortable as the Chair One, but for me, the differences were small but noticeable. Thus the 4 stars vs 5. Perhaps this would be a 5 star product for another reviewer. (I really wanted to give it 5 stars due to its amazing packed size and weight

 When packed, the Chair One feels huge compared to the Chair Zero, and that's saying something because the Chair One already packs small (I have taken the Chair One backpacking). The Chair Zero also feels much lighter than the Chair One.  All that being said, I think the Chair One is more comfortable, and for ME, it is worth the extra space and weight. If I was an ultra-light backpacker, I would absolutely prefer the Chair Zero - it is one of a kind

 What I would really like to see is a Chair 0.5 that uses the height, lean, and dimensions of the Chair One, but the seat material and the pole design of the Chair Zero. Maybe this is an engineering impossibility, but that's what I would like to see.  Another qualification that should be said is that I am 6'5", and weigh close to 250 lbs (near the weight capacity of 265 lbs)

  All that being said, I think the Chair One is more comfortable, and for ME, it is worth the extra space and weight. If I was an ultra-light backpacker, I would absolutely prefer the Chair Zero - it is one of a kind. The Chair One leans back slightly more, and the hip and leg rest area feels more comfortable. The Chair Zero is still quite comfy, though, and I imagine it would feel amazing after a day of hiking, like the Chair One did for me

Amazingly Small and Light

 Being fat & tall, the fabric at the bottom of the chair is quite tight for my wide bum, and the rear poles of the chair digs into the bottom of my shoulder blades. It's somewhat uncomfortable to sit in for too long, but is a great luxury item for long hikes and backpacking trips. For big people like myself, I'd recommend you trying out the Chair One if you're seeking comfort.

Jesus Christ this is insanely light, also very compact. It's lighter than my folding stool, which blew my mind. For a big dude, 265lb & 6'1", right at the capacity of this chair, it fits me decently well. It's strong enough to sit in with my feet up, but tends to lean forward

Stylish room!  The IKEA Poang is a good choice for a chair (acoustically speaking); if you start having difficulty getting out of it, consider a Stressless or Eames chair. Either would look great in your room.

Just as a tip/recommendation regarding the Ikea Poang (as I'm currently holding a sleeping baby sitting on the same chair), get a comfy cushion, maybe two for your arms to rest on when you're holding or feeding your baby. The arm rests are just a little too far apart and low for an averaged size person to comfortably support the weight of the baby. A little cushion will help!

Since I first bought this chair back when they first released from Ikea, I loved this chair! It is very affordable and very comfortable. This chair conforms to my body nicely and I can sit in the chair for hours. I had to give my Poang up when we moved back home. There are no Ikeas in Hawaii

 I now have to buy replacement cushions with different type cushion headrests. Add the Poang Footrest and you will easily take many naps in this chair!

If you go for the Poang, the leather cushions are way more stiff and less comfortable. They also push your head forward even more. I would pick a fabric option with a detachable headrest like the Vislanda. For critical music  listening, low back chairs are always going to be a better option
