 The paint is peeling off in some spots. I do own the (GMG-branded) pizza stone, which pushes the grill to high temperatures so it makes me wonder if the paint they used is rated as such. But you'd think that engineering would be sound. 2

A decent grill for smoking, but perhaps there are better out there

then set it to 225. The temp kept climbing and climbing, then started to below smoke like wet leaves. Stunk like hog heaven. Tried to turn the temp down to 150 and then to blower mode

I did 2 "burn ins" and went to do my first real food good. Clean grille completely (although I should not have had to do this). Fired it up.

 It took me 6 weeks and several electrocutions to get them to replace it. Customer service was abhorrent. The replacement grill, now in it’s second season has a faulty fan for the pellet box. The temperature probe to monitor your cooking meat has been replaced 3 times and has yet to work on either grill

  If you live in an area that is extremely arid, this may be the grill for you, but if you have any form of humidity, unfortunately it’s not.

 GMG’s customer service instantly replaced it; had the place of purchase deliver a newly assembled grill and took away the rusting grill. Outstanding.  Now 8-9 mos later, the “new” grill, while having no discernible rust on the outside (aside from the small wheel castors rusting almost instantly), it has several sizable rust patches on the interior.  I brought this to GMGs attention and the sent me a spray can of high-temp black paint, so after I sand down the grill, I can re-coat the interior

 I have covers for these but during the long grill season where I live (about 8 mos of the year) I’ve left them largely uncovered and much more exposed to the elements than the GMG DB grill. And after 10-15 years the Webers have no rust, perhaps a very tiny bit here or there (very tiny) but none to speak of; and certainly well within reasonable expectations (frankly have exceeded them).  I really like the GMG in general and my DB grill specifically but if it’s going to “instantly” rust, once I’m done with it, I’m going to be left with no choice but to look elsewhere. I’m not going to spend another $700 for something to be disposable, I want, need and expect it to last

  I bought their Daniel Boone (DB) model which is their mid-size model which comes with an 18-20lb pellet hopper (plenty big) and also purchased the wifi interface, the exterior front stainless steel grill rack and the GMG DB cover. For all of it, I paid just about $700 (excl tax) in Nov ’17.  I write this one year later in Nov ’18.  I love to use it, been very pleased with the food product results

If you live in area of any humidity, be extremely aware.

 It quickly came in the mail with easy to install directions and I am now up and smoking again!

 In general, the inconveniences have been small, almost non-existent with the app just once in a while. I wasn't happy with the upgrade, but they took care of it. So if you're looking for quality grill that is easy to use, it gives great results, is deadly accurate, then I can recommend the Trigger Timberline 850. I've loved the time I've had with it

 Because it burns less pellets, it creates less ash, and it's a cleaner smoke when you're preparing your food. I really enjoy that. Another thing I like about it is, despite it's small footprint with the three racks it has in it, I can actually put more food in this smoker than I could in my larger one that I had before it. It will let you cook a lot of food with that three rack setup

 So if you're looking for quality grill that is easy to use, it gives great results, is deadly accurate, then I can recommend the Trigger Timberline 850. I've loved the time I've had with it. So if you get this smoker, I can tell you something, you'll love cooking it because you'll know that you can make it. I have a good woman, I ain't good looking, but I do some cooking

 I don't think they sear it enough. But just to test it out, I did some cooks with steaks and burgers right down on the low, firing it up to high temperatures and throwing them in. Now it doesn't give you the dark black sear, but it does give you enough of my artifact to give good flavor, and they were amongst the juiciest steaks and burgers I ever had. So much to my surprise, this makes a really great steak or burger all by itself

 Welcome to this episode of You Can Make It with David Farrell the old fat guy, that's

 No cooking today, today I'm going to give a follow up review on my Traeger Timberline

 I bought it about 4 months ago and I did a video at that time that gave you my initial

 impressions and listed all the features of the smoker.

 So I'm not going to be listing them off again, rather I'm just going to be giving you my

 impressions of the things I liked and didn't like over the 4 months I've had it.

 Now I will give you two notices, first Traeger didn't pay me a thing or give me any consideration

 to do this video, I bought my smoker just like everybody else.

 And second, it's a spoiler alert and if you don't want to have to watch all the details

 of what I'm going to say and you just want to know if I like the smoker, I love this

 It is accurate, it is easy to use, it is built well, it does a great job on smoking, high

 temperatures, everything, it is a really great grill.

 But let's go into the stuff that gave me some problems, stuff you should know about and

 the stuff I really like about the grill.

 Now I've only had one major problem since I bought the grill and that wasn't with the

 I got an email from Traeger telling me they wanted me to upgrade my Wi-Fi connection software

 and I did what they told me and after I did it, I couldn't connect, I couldn't pair,

 I was just nothing, couldn't use the Wi-Fi at all.

 So I gave them a call and they advised me there had been a problem with the upgrade

 and this was a known problem that many people were having.

 Now if you're a major manufacturer of a top line product, you really don't want to be

 doing any upgrades or sending them out until you're sure they're bulletproof.

 But in their defense, within two to three weeks, they'd solved the problem, re-uploaded

 an upgrade and everything's been running fine since and it's been just great.

 A much smaller problem, and we're talking more of an inconvenient set of problems, is

 that when I use their app, occasionally it makes me sign in again.

 But every fourth or fifth time, I have to reenter my username and password.

 It's a minor aggravation, but my other apps don't make me do that, just so you know.

 Now the next issue I want to raise isn't really a problem.

 It's more something you should just know about.
