 Let'S get into this unboxing review of the red wing 6 inch Mach 2. Now, if you know anything about red wing, they've been in business for over a hundred years, they were established in 1905 and they make a wide range of quality booths, some newer, but they're, especially known for the classic model, with one of their signature ones. Being this 6-inch motto, they began making my toe boots in the 1950s. The sportsman farm and factory worker quickly took to them for their all-day comfort and lasting durability

 Now the 6 inch model that we're talking about today is the 875. It'S a shorter iteration of the classic model, the 877, which is an 8-inch boot. Now this bad boy retails for 280, and let's talk about what you get for your 280 bucks, you get 6 inches of premium Redwing or a legacy. Leather, combined with good gear

 To be specific, that is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and it has a nice natural look to it because they don't put a lot of finishing chemicals on it, making it have a nice natural beauty to it. They get this leather from a company. They'Ve been working with for a lot of years, called SB for tanning. A couple of things you want to pay attention to there with this boot

Red Wing 6 Inch Moc Toe Boot Unboxing And Review

 Once break in is over they will fit like a glove. The footbed is a very rigid piece of leather with a cork mid-sole beneath it. There is also a removable leather insole. What begins to happen is that this rigid piece of leather begins to conform to your foot, almost forming a natural semi-rigid orthotic, which is the kind you want

 Red Wing ships these with their own "special" custom crepe sole blend which I expect will deteriorate completely in a year. By design I wonder? I'm already seeing the tell tale signs in the outer corners of the heels wearing after just a few weeks of light use. I'll then take these in to be resoled with the Vibrams they should have shipped to begin with! So these boots should really be considered a near $400 dollar investment with a planned near term sole replacement.

 The arch won't be as high as a custom orthotic but it will mold to fit your foot.  Being a long time plantar fasciitis sufferer I was concerned about my custom orthotics fitting in these because of the height of the heel pad in the boot. I took these to my Podiatrist and she said I didn't even need to wear my orthotics with these boots! Awesome. Very glad to hear my doctor approves of these for me and my condition

First off, I needed a FULL size smaller than I normally wear. I wear a 12D comfortably in every other shoe, I first tried an 11.5 in the 1907 and experienced too much slippage in the heel. Sent back for an 11D, perfect fit! Also a sole-to-sole comparison to my other size 12 shoes is a dead match

Yes there will be pain, and yes it's worth it!

 Another reason I buy Goodyear Welted boots, they can be resoled and repaired so for all the environmental types that fact alone should be a huge selling point.

Lastly, while the break in period can vary it's worth it as the boots will form to your foot and create a great fit. I can be really tough on boots/shoes as indicated in the attached picture, which shows the outcome of the one time I tried to work in something other than an RW boot. I found out how quickly I can waste $100+ on a shoe that can't be repaired and just falls apart under what I consider normal work conditions. 

I usually wear a 10 in most shoes/boots but for RW I go half size down to 9.5. Everyone has a preference in how they want boots to fit/feel and everyone does different things with their boots, so I take reviews with a grain of salt, but here's what I have to say. 

Great Work Boot

 They are stiff and taut when they first go on, they need to be broken in. You're probably not going to be happy if you put these on and set off on backpacking adventure. They are stiff. However, they get more comfortable everyday and I get compliments all the time

 Unfortunately they did not have my size, I tried on an 11.5 and I knew that an 11 would be perfect just like they said. Unfortunately, they couldn't get the boots for 2 weeks so to Amazon I went., I ordered my size, they came the next day and for $40 cheaper none-the-less

So proud of these boots!

Boots are comfortable after the break in period, but I recently bought my second pair of redwings and found they changed the insoles. The new ones seem cheaply made and are not as comfortable. I am disappointed redwings are not keeping the same standards they used to have.

 They are super heavy boots but look nice, are well made, and fit well after breaking in. I'm a 9.5 in about 95% of the footwear I buy but these run large. I tighten them all the way after breaking them in and they're fine but I do have to really crank on the laces and keep them tight

 I had a hard time deciding between going with brair oil slick, or with a more classic leather color. So, when I found these advertised as "brown" on Amazon, it seemed like a good compromise, although I was curious as to what they'd be because I didn't see "brown" on the official Rewing heritage website. As it turns out it appears to me they are the Briar Oil Slick, and they look great.  Made in the USA, baby!

 Reassuring me to no doubt.  I went with 10 D first, but had to return them for a wider fit. So, I went with a size 10 2E. Out of the box the width was great, the fit was a bit roomy, not loose, but not quite as snug as I wanted them to be

 As it turns out it appears to me they are the Briar Oil Slick, and they look great.  Made in the USA, baby!

 The souls for the price point need to last longer, be thicker and not cost 100bucks to replace in a year. I saw inside a year after the souls would need repair. That service is 125 on a heratige boot.  Total investment: 425 by the second year take note

 The souls wore much too fast and the uppers stretch. Again I’m Impressed with the high quality leather, stiching and craftsmanship. The souls for the price point need to last longer, be thicker and not cost 100bucks to replace in a year. I saw inside a year after the souls would need repair

 NO DOUBT these are by far the best materials and workmanship of any boots, but the comfort level is not what I wanted.  I have consistently looked for another reason to rate these higher but for the money, I can’t find one. The souls wore much too fast and the uppers stretch. Again I’m Impressed with the high quality leather, stiching and craftsmanship

I bought a 12 Fits perfectly I’m still in the break in business but I love them more every day: UPDATE 2 months

 And what's interesting about this stitch, is they Stitched these with the same machines that they probably stitched these boots originally with., Because the machines they use are called a puritan stitch machine and it has three needles and it stitches all three of these thread lines at the same time. And also there's so many cool Things about this., It also pulls a thread through a little vat of liquid wax

. It'S a full vegetable, tan, leather insole, which i'm a huge fan of because it doesn't stink as fast or as much and it breaks into the shape of your foot. And it's a lot more durable and long-lasting than like a fiber board or some of the other materials people put in boots.

 And you can Even do it from home if you have most of the right equipment. Now. Finally, what's on the inside of this boot, Red wing is not shy about sharing what's inside of their boots, and we know there's a cork layer on the inside. And the cork layer is just a filler layer that that molds to the shape of your foot over Time
