 the shape just didn't work in the bottles that i wanted to use it in. my low rating is because of the shape. it doesn't get the things in the jars out like i'd hoped. i have an old set of spatulas

I was looking more for a solid, silicone, sturdy spatula. I think there is a wooden base covered in silicone. Fine for some purposes, but not for others.

Not sturdy but good for frosting

I have had my GIR Ultimate spatula for a couple of years now and love it just as much as I did on day one! It is one piece, super easy to clean, doesn't get hot, stain resistant and has the prefect amount of flex. I have replaced most of my kitchen utensils with GIR gear and frequently give GIR as a gift.

 My only wish is that the working part of the spatula at the end was two inches longer. It takes more passes to scrape the sides of a bowl clean. Perhaps I'll look around for a one.

The handle is long enough to keep your hands away from the mixture in the bowl -- no more mixture on my knuckles (like the bottom of large peanut butter or mayo jars, awesome). Well this spatula will do the job, but it is clear that now that Rubbermaid is having their products made overseas that quality is nowhere near what it used to be. A very flimsy travesty of a formerly great product.

Was expecting a stiffer spatula. I work with stiffer dough and this spatula can't handle; but I like the "stand" on the handle to keep spatula off countertop.

I have bought Rubbermaid spatulas for at least 10 years. And over the years, I have seen the quality go down. Yes. they are heat resistance and I put them in the dishwasher to clean

 The problem I have with Rubbermaid spatulas are the little silicon filings I see on the spatula where the moldings meet. Production does not do a good job of cleaning them off. Who wants to eat silicon with their cake?

I dislike seeing small silicon filings on the spatula.

 My commercial spoons are now over 20 yrs old. I'll be very surprised if the Rubbermaids last as long. - Rubbermaid spoon is much lighter, but since I'm never actively using mine for more than a few minutes at any given time, this is a non-issue - Note in the photos below, the difference in handle thickness where the handle meets the spoon. The commercial spoon is MUCH sturdier and thicker there, than the Rubbermaid

 - Cost is about the same. But if you can't get to a restaurant supply store, or it's "only to the trade", the Rubbermaids will suffice for most cooks.

 The plastic handle feels sturdy, and the scraper silicone end has just the right amount of flexibility. The only downside with the handle may be with arthritic users as it is thinner than some of the competitors.  The way Rubbermade molded the spatula to the handle is superior to others I’ve tried. The oxo and most other spatulas seem to have removable silicone bits, which can cause food particles to get caught between the silicone and handle
