Gibson Les Paul vs Squier Affinity Stratocaster

Overall I ran my fingers along the side of the fretboard and nothing felt too sharp or anything, and each note rings out pretty cleanly without any real buzz (unless it's on me fretting a chord that I'm not yet comfortable with). Overall finger placement has been pretty forgiving.

From what you've said the player series is a solid choice, and will last you a long, long time. The difference between them and the American performer or professional is fairly minimal, especially to the average person listening to you.

I found this out after putting 12 gauge strings on this guitar in place to the tiny, mushy ones provided by the factory, which caused unwanted mechanical issues with the tremolo bridge. A five pack of Fender brand replacement springs cost me $10. I recommend you buy them with your first set of replacement springs and install them together. The spring upgrade is non-negotiable, so factor that cost into owning this instrument

Most of the time you will get what you pay for, in regards to anything. But as has already been stated, if you play it and you like the way it feels that’s more important than anything.

Important aspect is Fender has better and more natural shape/curves to accommodate strumming (right) arm and belly. Noticed this difference right away comparing to PRS SE 245. Fender is much more comfortable to play. Also, nickel strings make really great sound
