I am very happy with this watch, but remember I wish I bought AW in the beginning. My main concern now is the difference in battery life. I am very pleased with Garmin, and have heard about battery issues with AW. I think that is the only thing holding me back is this, and the price maybe:):)

 At the beginning of the activity, my heart rate was nearly 20 seconds behind the Tickr X's readouts, and by as much as 10bpm. The longer I worked out, the closer the readings became. If you're doing highly precise heart rate training or interval training, you might be better off using a chest strap heart rate monitor that uses electrical rather than optical components.

When you record a run, for example, you get a summary of typical data, including distance, time, average pace, elevation gain, and calories burned. You also get detailed graphs of heart rate, pace, run cadence, and even the outdoor temperature. Curious for more? You can view your maximum speed and average, or dive into a breakdown of the amount of time you spent in different heart rate zones. Another aspect of the Vivoactive 3 Music that fitness enthusiasts will appreciate is the ability to both download and create workouts to follow, such as interval training or strength training. The watch helps you track and record the activity while following reps, sets, and interval times.

Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music Review

I wasn't sure how much I would personally benefit from one, so I didn't want to invest a lot but wanted a strong feature set. I went with the Garmin Vivoactive 3, and you can buy them for $130 but sometimes get them on sale for as low as $100-110. It's a great value for that price, and I would recommend it if you are unsure and want to try one and see if it is for you.

I've been on the fence about taking the plunge and buying a Garmin.  I'd imagine I'd benefit most from being able to accurately view my pace to find my sweet spot.  How about you guys that use a watch, worth it?

Running watch - Game Changer?

I am about a week into this and do not like how many apps to utilize all the features.  It would seem that you would have one app and control you watch not three.

Having said all that – if you need a watch for highly critical missions, this watch will likely fall below the range of functional necessity. However, if you need a backpacking, casual or travelers watch, you should be really happy with this watch

 The watch needs to be removed for an accurate reading. • A tad bulky on thin wrists (not really a con, just worthy of noting for those who have smaller wrists) • Alti/Baro log review is limited by style of display. If this is a critical feature to you, I'd consider GPS watches • You can only set a single alarm. This is also such a huge oversight

  Having said all that – if you need a watch for highly critical missions, this watch will likely fall below the range of functional necessity. However, if you need a backpacking, casual or travelers watch, you should be really happy with this watch.

Water resistance is decent, but no where near my Casio Mudman 9300, which was half the price and put up with a LOT more abuse. I was hoping to love this, but a few things bother me. The good: comfortable to wear, accurate instruments for a watch, sleek look, intuitive menus (subjective) The bad: battery life, prone to scratches/damage if used for its' intended outdoor purpose, fairly dim display even when backlit. Good watch with some shortcomings.

 Plus I go swimming daily in the in-ground pool with the watch on without issue. The band is holding up good as new, the face of the watch has no scratches, and all of the buttons work perfectly. After three months of everyday use I have zero complaints about the watch. Glad I bought it

I've been wearing this watch for three months now. It works exactly as advertised to this point. I live in Florida and like to keep an eye on the weather when outside. The barometer function mirrors my home weather station closely

Excellent Watch

 The altimeter is a bit complicated and requires input to calibrate on a regular basis. Temperature appears to be biased by being on your arm and is not ambient. These are no big deals for me, i am enjoying the watch, and it is very comfortable to wear.

 The watch itself is fantastic, The watchband is very comfortable and the features are fairly easy to figure out. Very cool design and a watch I plan to have for years to come. Just be prepared to have to hound the shipping company every step of the way.

I'm stationed in Afg and had previously ordered a watch from Amazon but it was lost, so I was a bit nervous about ordering another one. The shipping company was Pier 18 and they were late in shipping it out and 3 days after the shipping date cited by Amazon I had to send a reminder email to them, but after that I got the watch in less than 2 weeks. The watch itself is fantastic, The watchband is very comfortable and the features are fairly easy to figure out. Very cool design and a watch I plan to have for years to come
