Fujifilm X-T30 vs Ricoh GR III

As always, JPEGs from the X-T30 look downright terrific. All of Fujifilm’s signature film simulations are included, and it’s a lot of fun testing them and seeing what works best for a given shooting scenario, whether you’re looking for more vivid colors, moody black and white shots, or something with softer tones. The company recently launched a redesigned mobile app for iOS (it’ll come to Android this summer), but I’ll just say that there’s still room for improvement in terms of speed and eliminating unnecessary steps. The Wi-Fi connection between phone and camera is stable, and sending photos over to your phone for a quick Instagram post is a great option to have

Again, great picture quality and compactness is awesome so I really want to like and even love this camera but the heating issue maybe a dealbreaker ☹️

Sharpness on (2), Contrast and Saturation on "2", Touchscreen is "off", and Focus is on "center".

The autofocus system is essentially the same as the X-T3—the X-T30 actually offers some enhancements, which are coming to the X-T3 via a firmware update. In practice, it performs quite well. It locks focus quickly, supports eye and face detection for human subjects, and can track moving targets with ease.

Fun little camera. Autofocus is not so great in low light but snap focus is always reliable. Low light performance for image quality is pretty bad at higher ISOs. In my opinion, this is a daytime camera due to no built in flash and limited low light performance

I bought the 23mm 1:1.4R and 35mm 1:1.4R lenses, and both have fairly loud autofocus mechanisms. Even when you use these lenses with manual focus, you're actually not controlling the assembly directly, it still uses the motors to focus

So if I had to give you an impression overall of the image quality on the gr3, I think you're gon na really enjoy it. I mean the lens is super sharp, ...

I mostly got it for landscape and city/street photography, but also have hopes of doing astrophotography eventually with some 3rd party prime lenses (Fuji's primes are a bit out of my budget currently). Besides the lower price, I also selected it over it's big brother, the X-T3, because of its more compact size and lighter weight. But besides those things and a few minor feature limits, it is essentially the same camera for a few hundred $ less. I will update soon with more thoughts and some photos

It's NOT dainty, it's 'meaty' and heavy in it's own right. A big man will not feel weird with this in his hands - big guys know what I'm talking about.

Sadly, this doesn't support 4K video recording, although we do at least get Full HD capture to 60p.
