Fujifilm X-T30 vs Nikon D90

As always, JPEGs from the X-T30 look downright terrific. All of Fujifilm’s signature film simulations are included, and it’s a lot of fun testing them and seeing what works best for a given shooting scenario, whether you’re looking for more vivid colors, moody black and white shots, or something with softer tones. The company recently launched a redesigned mobile app for iOS (it’ll come to Android this summer), but I’ll just say that there’s still room for improvement in terms of speed and eliminating unnecessary steps. The Wi-Fi connection between phone and camera is stable, and sending photos over to your phone for a quick Instagram post is a great option to have

My second son was going to graduate from that same college and the ceremony was going to be an evening ceremony and at the same poorly lighted location (I believe that, after paying for four years of college, parents should be entitled to having the graduation ceremony in a well-lighted location and close enough access to take photos of their children during the ceremony without fast, heavy telephoto lenses, but, apparently, my belief is not shared by those in positions to do something about it). So I concluded that I needed a camera with a bigger image sensor that had better low-light, high-ISO performance. The full-size sensor digital SLRs were too expensive for me, so I checked on the cameras with smaller sensors. After reviewing camera reviews of various SLRs on low-light, high-ISO performance, I concluded that my choices were limited to Canon or Nikon digital SLRs with the APS-C sensors

- apply filter effects: warm filter, skylight (I still don't know what that is), blue filter, red filter, green filter, even cross-screen (more customizable than the actual filter, but not as organic and worse in quality than actual filter, so it has its pros and cons against the actual). - adjust color levels on a four-dimensional color grid. - adjust D-Lighting. This is a really really awesome feature to have, definitely a favorite! - fish-eye effect, as well as a sort of reverse fish-eye to correct for distortion - resize - tilt - RAW processing - crop - and probably more that i am forgetting - monochromatic in BnW, Cyanotype, and Sepia

The autofocus system is essentially the same as the X-T3—the X-T30 actually offers some enhancements, which are coming to the X-T3 via a firmware update. In practice, it performs quite well. It locks focus quickly, supports eye and face detection for human subjects, and can track moving targets with ease.

I just upgraded from a nikon d90 to a nikon d7500 and I love it except for one issue. I'm having trouble with the new autofocus choosing my focus point and can't figure out the right setting to switch.

I bought the 23mm 1:1.4R and 35mm 1:1.4R lenses, and both have fairly loud autofocus mechanisms. Even when you use these lenses with manual focus, you're actually not controlling the assembly directly, it still uses the motors to focus

This sorta works to your benefit. The reduced sensor has a multiplying effect on the lens rating. This is approximately 1.5 times

I mostly got it for landscape and city/street photography, but also have hopes of doing astrophotography eventually with some 3rd party prime lenses (Fuji's primes are a bit out of my budget currently). Besides the lower price, I also selected it over it's big brother, the X-T3, because of its more compact size and lighter weight. But besides those things and a few minor feature limits, it is essentially the same camera for a few hundred $ less. I will update soon with more thoughts and some photos

The Nikon d90 also comes with built-in image sensor. Cleaning and in-camera image. Editing the Nikon d90 lens kit comes with instruction menu software...

A great camera for the money! I love the Fujifilm Film Simulations it is well known for and truly, the JPEG rendering out of camera is nearly as good as you can get with the RAW files. Very happy!

The icing on the cake is the ability to shoot HD video. A still and separate video camera really are needed to take shots of any serious nature. The right tool for the right job holds true. BUT, it is nice to be able to flip it over to liveview and start recording
