Frigidaire FFAP5033W1 vs TCL TDW40E20

If I run into issues I will update this review. I have had a number of bad experiences with all the China manufactured dehumidifiers but this one does seem to have a better overall build quality. We shall see.

Previous dehumidifiers have pulled 20-25 pints/day from the same area. The problem is compounded by the response I have gotten from TLC. They keep wanting to “troubleshoot” the problem, even after two long phone conversations. The last suggestion was that I send it back for repair

It worked great for a while, really helping bring down the humidity in our basement. Unfortunately, at around the 18 month mark, the pump started having problems and was inconsistent. Despite through cleaning of the tank, flushing and ultimately replacing all the drain lines, etc., the problem continued

We've had a problem with the master bedroom being 10-15% more humid than the rest of the house which we have not been able to fix, so our next option was to buy a dehumidfier. This product does work well but it is loud and I cannot use it at night. Actually, I can hear it running from other parts of the house, it's that loud. The only other issues is lights

Just be sure to purchase the extended service contract as their dehumidifiers are not known for their longevity. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one will be better. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This works for about 3 hours, then the dehumidifier starts blowing cold humid air once again. I'll try support again but expect a replacement will be just as bad. This is the last TCL product I ever buy.

I will revise this review after I have had the opportunity to test its efficiency and the pump function. I have found customer service to be horrible and unresponsive. Update July 22: I discovered from reading all customer questions that the plastic splash cover does come off and the procedure for doing so, although I haven’t tried to remove it yet. I was also able to figure out which hose opening to use with the pump, again by reading customer responses to questions, so thank you Amazon customers! As far as customer service goes, to clarify, I rate the helpfulness from the manufacturer a zero

Removes half-gallon of water from 1800 s.f. Space daily. You need to empty it daily to keep it running

I'm now calling in a warranty claim. I will say that we weren't consistent with the maintenance (as stated in the manual which is to basically clean it every couple of weeks), however we did maintain it pretty well. I like this dehumidifier because it has a large bucket & it's in a place where I can't use the tube to constantly drain it. I would say that if you buy this product (or any other dehumidifier), purchase the optional service agreement that goes with it

Fortunately, I didn't drop it and the handle went back on fairly easily, but I did mash my finger in the process. (pouty face). Lesson learned, do not tip the reservoir to either side corner to empty as the handle can come loose. Keep it straight and even when pouring

This is not going to be something that you are going to be able to ignore ... it is a MAJOR negative factor about this

Sad that a brand new dehumidifier, which had good reviews on Amazon, didn't even last 3 whole months. Not to mention, I had to go through the hassle of disposing of the unit at the local recycling center, which cost me $15, plus the $29.99, for a 4 year extend warranty which I'll never be able to use.
