Fluance Ai61 vs Polk Audio T15 Home Theater

I love having the super lows of my sub, but I feel like if I change my crossover to let in higher frequencies it gets muddy (cheap sub with big port) so I want some speakers that can really respond quickly and really kick. Ideally at about 120w a channel. For reference I tried some Fluance Ai61's thinking they would do it, but I was thoroughly unimpressed and now I'm wary of bookshelf claims. Or if you have sub recommendations that can do this I'm open to alternatives

If you want to use these as part of a larger ensemble of speakers, these are likely great for higher frequency sound. If you have the ability to purchase a better speaker without constraints of space to hold them or funds, I'd say go a bit higher on the quality spectrum and get a bigger speaker box with a bigger bass punch. UPDATE: after 2 months of use, these things have really improved. I’m pretty satisfied

I used a few movies that I know have good sound mixes: Monster U (the dance party scene), Sound of Music (Do Ra Mi meadow scene), Tron (End of Line Club fight scene), and Hunt for Red October (final sub battle scene). The sound stage was much more cohesive. When the mix moved something through the front from side to side, it held together. Dialogue did not get shoved down even when there was other action

I suggest getting a reasonable set of powered speakers, like the Kanto YU6, or Fluance AI61, or Audioengine A5+, then also picking up a subwoofer. Not so you can shake the room, but so you can increase the gain on the low end for lower volumes. I listen at “reasonable” levels in my city apartment, and don’t crank the volume, so it’s nice to be able to fill in the lower frequencies.

I was wrong. These Fluance speakers deliver shallow and unimpressive bass. They do have good control of the mid range and slightly better vocals and highs. But for speakers with a 6

I see some reviewers offering glowing reports of these entry-level Polk speakers, especially regarding their so-called "bass" response. Don't fall for it. These absolutely do not cut it on their own for anything but the mose superficial bass. Don't count on them to be anything in your home theater set-up other than surrounds, and don't buy them for a music-only system as your mains if you don't use a separate subwoofer

Today i see that they are $149 a piece, which is still an okay value i guess but im happy that i got them for less than half of today's price! I don't think i would've pulled the trigger at 149 a piece though as there are other offerings out there in that higher price range that would probably be a much better value. I notice price fluctuation here and elsewhere nearly on a daily basis so it would do a person well to monitor pricing daily and grab them when they go back down in price, at 74 bucks a piece i don't know if u could do much better in terms of quality and overall satisfaction! Watch that price daily and grab these when they go back to 74 bucks a piece, i doubt that you'd be disappointed! Seriously, how much quality do u expect from a sub $150/pair of speakers?? These did exceed my expectations for the price for sure! I've owned Marantz, KLH, MTX, Bose, Carvin and a few other speakers over the years so i DO in fact have a pretty good reference point and these Polks can compare to most of them for MUCH shorter dollars. If you're on a budget or otherwise just can't bring yourself to spend large dollars on speakers but still want decent sound then i have no problem whatsoever recommending these Polks! Just do it already, or don't, whatever lol.
