 In fact, it's arguably less convenient to preheat this way than some other more efficient methods which also come with the side benefit of doing so unattended. Our favorite method is to use steam from the kettle we're boiling our water in. This small hack essentially requires you to look around your home or online for something that can suspend your cylinder above the boiling water. Canning funnels both metal and silicone, or even a small sifter or colander will suffice, set your kettle to boil and get onto other things while your brew cylinder gets up to temperature

 These are only suggestions and you should experiment to find what works best for you and your palette. Well, let's grind this out and get to brewing. Move this out of the way [Applause] Use your included funnel to transfer the grounds into the portafilter. [Music] then settle the coffee into place before removing the funnel

 Just squeeze it out back behind there and then pull these out. You'll have to pull that one out first and then you can push out your plunger once you have your plunger out. Same thing just going to reach back behind and pull them out like this and you're just going to wipe back there with a paper towel. You generally don't need to use any kind of detergents and we in fact don't recommend it because if you leave behind any kind of a residue, it can be an off-putting taste for your espresso

 The darker your coffee, the more likely you'll find yourself enjoying tighter ratios say one to two or even less. Conversely, the lighter your coffee, the better the chances you'll enjoy it at ratios of approaching one to three. These are only suggestions and you should experiment to find what works best for you and your palette. Well, let's grind this out and get to brewing

I used to have a cheap espresso machine and I still have a basic cuisinart burr grinder, but the espresso machine died and I was gifted around 500 nespresso pods, so I bought the pixie and have been using it since. I mostly make iced lattes and with the nespresso pods, that means 2 pods per cup which is maybe about a triple shot. and we make between 2 and 8 cups a day between my wife and I and other people that stop out.

I’ve been using my nespresso pixie for the past 3 years and although it’s convenient, all the pods tasted more or less the same to me now, it’s getting boring and expensive. I’d love to get a proper entry level set up and would love some set recommendations for something within the $500 - $1.5k range. I was looking at the breville barista touch but it has mixed reviews

 I mean, look at how small it is. This is something I love about this machine is how small it is. Takes up literally almost no room on your countertop, yet it really does a great job at brewing some awesome, awesome espresso. It's got a water tank mounted at the back of it

 And of course, everyone wonders about the warranty on the Nespresso Pixie. There's a standard one-year factory warranty. So if you have any problems with a one-year buying the unit, you're covered and you know that you can use this machine with peace of mind as you get to know it in your at-home coffee shop.  Today I'm going to be giving you a quick overview of one of my favorite single serve coffee

 In this case, it's a single serve espresso making machine.

 It's called the Pixie and it's by Nespresso.

 Let's dive in, show you what it can do, and of course, brew some espresso.

 All right guys, so first off, the Pixie, I have to say, really lives up to its name.

 This is something I love about this machine is how small it is.

 Takes up literally almost no room on your countertop, yet it really does a great job

 at brewing some awesome, awesome espresso.

 It's got a water tank mounted at the back of it.

 This water tank will keep a bunch of water ready for you to brew that espresso.

 There's not a filter in this tank so you probably want to use filtered water with your Nespresso

 Very, very easy to set up, however, just fill that tank up.

 After that, the machine is very straightforward.

 On the top, we've got our two brew sizes.

 We have a single shot and a double shot, a double shot being a LUMGO.

 One thing that's very much worth mentioning on this machine is that it has a 19 bar pressure

 19 bar is actually well above the required standard for an espresso machine to be able

 So this machine actually meets and exceeds the amount of pressure that it is supposed

 to have to do a proper shot of espresso.

 It's something I really like about this machine.

 It's definitely not underdone and despite its size, it can really kick out a great shot.

 We have a tray here on the bottom which can be folded up if we have a larger tumbler that

 we're going to make use of and attached to that tray is our receptacle which is going

 to catch our used pods which we use for making espresso.

 Now these Nespresso capsules are proprietary.
