 You know, in bad weather in a small confined tent, I would be perfectly happy cooking on it. So at the moment on Amazon I think they're 55 pounds, which I suppose is a bit pricey compared with some of the cheaper stoves. but I've had cheaper stoves that have been absolute dog. So 55 pound for a decent stove that's light that's reliable, that can cope with cold weather

 These arms that fold out, you know they're of a decent size. You can get a good size pot on here as well as you know, a small one-person pot which is what I generally use it for. So we'll set this up and we'll get some water boiling. I might set a timer just to see how quick it is, but speed is not this thing's uh

 I've recently been to Wales and I took this and it did really well in the in the windy mountains and size wise, you know while the sit on top stoves are always going to be smaller, that is reasonably small, it packs up nicely so these top bits open out for your pots to go on. The legs just open out a nice wide base so it's nice and stable. These arms that fold out, you know they're of a decent size. You can get a good size pot on here as well as you know, a small one-person pot which is what I generally use it for

 But the cons being? you know, because there's more material, they're obviously a little bit bigger. You know I've got a pocket rocket too, which is a tiny little thing. that's a great little stove, but it sits up on top of the gas bottle. So if you're somewhere you know, a little bit unstable, a little bit windy, then your gas canisters sitting there, your stove sitting on top, and then your pot sitting on top of that

I've been looking at getting a backpacking stove to take out with me on day-hikes. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I'm looking for a stove to fulfill the tasks of brewing fresh coffee and cooking single-person, boil-in-bag meals, such as the classic "omelet in a bag." What's the best liquid canister stove for winter/wind?

 Within its intended usage profile this is the best ultralight backpacking stove out there. I think it hits the practical limit of how light a gas stove can be and still be durable and reliable. If you're more a luxury or car camper then there are definitely much better and more practical stove options out there than this one. If you are looking to go far and fast with a compact ultralight kit, then this might be the ideal stove for you

 I have done a 1.6L Mors pot worth of soup, but you have to be very careful and it's much safer to stabilize the pot with a few rocks or even just suspend it over the stove from a hasty tripod. The other thing is these stoves are highly affected by the wind. I highly recommend also getting a titanium foil windscreen

  Now for actual usage. You have to keep in mind with the tiny size of these that they are minimalist backpacking stoves really intended for boiling water in mug size pots (400-750mL size range) to rehydrate meals. They aren't really ideal or intended for heavy camp cooking like making bacon and eggs for breakfast or a steak and potato dinner. The burner is about the size of a quarter and generates a concentrated hot spot about 2 1/2" around

Everybody compares this to the BRS-3000T so I'll start there. At first glance they look extremely similar and the BRS is a few grams lighter coming in just under an ounce. The Fire Maple is actually the original and if you pay attention to the pictures you'll notices some brass and steel parts in there. That accounts for the weight difference and also the quality difference between the two stoves

Best Option for Ultralight Stove

 Most importantly for me this stove allows very fine attenuation of the flame. That allows me to simmer in pot. If you are rehydrating meals the full flame boils water very quickly. The stove is rated at 9500 BTU

  The price isn't terrible but for this brand and with a need for redesign, it should be closer to $50.

 and so I have not used a pots where I've needed to have that much surface area to be able to keep the pot on so keeping the weight down I Do just use this tri Flex. Just this tripod type of system that's included with the stove and it's been really nice. So if I show you here on its side, you can see how low the pot stand is next to the height of the burner. That's something that I really really enjoy about this stove is the space between the burner and the bottom of the pot allows for it to basically be its own type of windscreen in that concave shape which and other Soto stoves like that amicus do have that concave shape as well

 And so my experience with the Soda Wind Master has been that it literally just outperforms all of the other canister stoves. So you do have this concave shape and I know that this concave shape of the burner is not like this incredibly innovative new thing the only Soto is doing. In fact, MSR is releasing a new stove that basically to me is a copycat of this but you've got a lot of the same elements. The boil times that I get from this thing is really impressive at 10,000 feet

 I still carry and like a mini BIC with me, but the the seal around the base is really well done. It doesn't spurt off a bunch of butane protip propane gas when you screw it on and screw it off. so that's a bonus and just overall, this thing is really really cool. So I'm super psyched about the way that this thing has boiled water, how it performs, it burns hot, you've got good simmer action to it, and I literally do not have like negative things to say about it

 When I was out on a five-day trip in July had this thing I was boiling water in two and a half to three and a half minutes depending on how cold the water was. And so a five-day trip I made a 100 gram fuel canister last with extra fuel. So now the total weight of the wind Master is going to come in at just under three ounces. and so when you were comparing this to other options it no, it does not break down and fold down like super tiny

Soto WindMaster Stove Review | Is This The Best Canister Stove?

 I'd be willing to add a couple more ounces of weight to have something that instilled a little more long-term confidence. But ultimately, if it does break, I can always buy another one (and I guess that right there is a benefit of the 2-piece model).

But I settled on the Soto because it seemed just a hair more versatile and here's why:

My only concern so far with the Soto is the durability of the pot supports. They are REALLY lightweight (you could snap them in 2 with just your hands) and I do wonder if the PocketRocket Deluxe might be little more durable in that regard. I'd be willing to add a couple more ounces of weight to have something that instilled a little more long-term confidence. But ultimately, if it does break, I can always buy another one (and I guess that right there is a benefit of the 2-piece model)

Soto vs MSR - I went with Soto.

 Also it is very quiet. Packs away with one small fuel canister in a Stanley Adventure Cook Pot alright. Quick tip: pre warm the fuel canister before use with your body heat for best performance at lower temps.

Quiet Powerful Compact

 Both stoves have good flame regulating and solid builds. For me, the efficient boil in breezy camps with a piezo starter still make this a keeper but minus a star for the separate setup supports.

 Now talking about this being used with larger pots. This can support a huge pot. I mean you've seen in some of my videos I've cooked up full meals on this. The Four Flex in my opinion is the way to go

This Little Stove is Awesome - Ultralight and Ultrafast - Soto Windmaster Stove Review

I tested out my new Soto WindMaster Stove this past weekend in the Mountains and I am in LOVE. I used the stove mainly to heat water to make coffee, and hydrate meals for one person. It's lightweight, incredibly easy to use, and packs up beautifully inside my Snow peak titanium trek 700 mug.

It's a Keeper

Now unlike the Micro Regulator, the Windmaster's shielded burner head is distinctly capable of holding the flame even with some wind and it'll maintain output. With the 4Flex legs and the "adhering" flame, the Windmaster will put most of the heat into the pot without having to seek shelter or erect a loose wind blocking screen around the stove. When a horizontal gust of wind hits the flame parallel to the pot bottom, it "curls" on itself from the disk and goes beneath the pot. In my experience, it means the flame isn't blown out and it is more robust

Ultimately the biggest downside of the Windmaster: It is a "huge" stove. With the 4Flex it becomes a solid rectangular cube in regards to storage dimensions. Even without the 4Flex pot support, the Stormbreaker is the tallest stove I own (next to the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe and Kovea V1 which seem like clones) and it has the fairly wide (for a modern, non side burner) burner head (just like the MSR PRD and Kovea V1). It also means the pot sits a little higher than if it were to be on a Snow Peak Gigapower or other designs but it does it better than the MSR PRD and Kovea V1 which have even taller pot supports

Huge improvement over Amicus and Micro Regulator

Saw some videos online and thought this was the best one out of all the similar ones. I haven’t personally done any comparison testing myself, but this one is a keeper for me! Might not be the lightest or the cheapest, but reviews say that it is the most fuel efficient. The igniter definitely helps and I don’t have anything to complain about my first pocket stove!
