Fender Mustang LT25 vs Marshall DSL40CR

Naturally, the LAVA was fine on its own, but before getting the Mustang GTX my poor Strat was stuck with a dinky 10-watt Ibanez amp that had a... demoralizing sound

I have a Les Paul with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. The DiMarzio is very bassy and has low treble naturally so I have to turn the treble and presence way up. On Channel 1 Red mode I have the Bass at 3 o clock, Mids are maxed and Treble is at 3 o clock. Presence is at 3 o clock and the Resonance is at 12 o clock

As for amps, I'd advise against using anything that comes in a starter pack because they pretty much universally sound like ass. Given the range of tones you want, you'd probably be best served with a practice amp. The best options on that front seem to be the Boss Katana 50, the Yamaha THR10, the Blackstar ID:Core 10, and the Fender Mustang LT25. None of them will sound as good as a tube amp or expensive digital modelers, but they still sound pretty good for the money and they come built in with a bunch of effects

Frankly, modeling is better at low volumes for that, and neither is close, but modeling is close enough and better than attenunated tubes. Even a 5 watt tube amp cranked won’t sound as boomy as a 50 watt tube through a 4x12. Low volume, spend less money. The Fender Mustang is also a highly praised modeler

I always played with guitar purists who looked down on anything other than a tube amplifier. Then after running their signals through an annoying array of digital stomp boxes, they would proclaim how sweet the sound was. If you are one of those people forget about this amplifier. This amp is light and compact, and it doesn't need a crate with wheels

Great amp, same tone as my DSL100 half stack but I can use it in the living room! You could easily still do a gig with this rig in a smaller setting too. Fair price and fast shipping as well!

10 out of 10 would recommend Update 5-25-22 been running the behringer ultra metal pedal um300, the metal zone clone I think. It kinda gets enough distortion now but still leaves alot to be desired. I even run emg 81s in almost all my guitars now just for that extra crunch that this amp cannot produce. I figured out that the basic clean channel is not the channel to use for this pedal but to use the excelsior amp model and tweak the heck out of it for weeks to get a semi usable thrash metal tone that still sound thin and weak

I would expect these features in a low-end professional amp, not at this price point for home students I am sold, and will be a Fender Mustang amp person for as long as they continue to offer this type of quality product in their Mustang lineup! I will be using this for years to come. Should I move up in needs or desires, I will not hesitate to purchase Mustang amps that fit those needs and desires. Nothing can be perfect though. I wish the electric outlet cord was longer than 5'
