 Bright 1 and Normal 1 provide you with 6dB (decibels) more gain. So already you have so many tonal configurations to choose from. Additionally, you can "jumper" between the bright and normal channels if you choose to dial in your tone that way. Personally, I exclusively use the normal channel (1st and 2nd inputs) because the bright channel is just TOO bright for my liking

 I'm leaving this review today because I absolutely LOVE this amp and I would like to share with you some things I've learnt about this beautiful beast over the last 8 years. Before you even plug your guitar into the amp you'll notice that there are 4 input jacks (Bright 1, Bright 2, Normal 1 and Normal 2). Bright 1 and Normal 1 provide you with 6dB (decibels) more gain. So already you have so many tonal configurations to choose from

 In fact, when you first get this amp you may think both channels are too bright. Don't be discouraged though, it takes a long time to break in Jensen P10Rs. My advice is to either play a loop through the amp or simply just play at loud volumes for extended periods of time. One of the things I really like about this amp is that it's super sensitive to your picking dynamics

Although the amp is bare bones, it takes pedals extremely well

Great Amp if you're patient

 Just pushing it over the edge You know, that's what every overdrive pedal is trying to replicate that kind of vibe. So yeah, very cool And now we're going to try the same guitar with a blend of both channels Put the normal channel up to eight and the bright channel Up to about five. Here we go Um All right, so That was maybe the loudest amp i've ever had in the house here that I can remember It feels ridiculously loud having four speakers and 50 watts and being able to jump the channels like that What a tone though. It is unreal It's one of the few sort of amps without a reverb where you don't necessarily need a reverb But I know a lot of people including myself like to know how these kind of amps will work with a reverb going into the front end Now rick and I dr rick and I had already shot a video of this amp on 10 So if you want to see that i'll try and find it and link it up in the cards But what a cool amplifier man

It sounds great for chords It sounds great for lead and crack it up and get big rock and roll sounds. Fender '59 Bassman - It's 'Call the Cops' LOUD!

 I'm going to do one other guitar here, do a hollow body, because why not, sorry, a little popping sound, so this will be normal channel two, because I'm going to go for just kind of like a nice warm jazz sound, so typically I'd use the normal for that. Channel two, because this is a hollow body, so I really want not a lot of gain, so it'll stay clean as well as not feedback too, too much, so this is what I got right now. Right, so you see a really, really nice sound, I could roll off some tone and get a little bit more of this kind of sound. Now with this guitar, if I was using it more in a jazz setting, I'd probably use the normal channel, if I was doing more of an acoustic show, I might switch over to the bright channel, I'd probably still stay in input two, because again, I don't really, this wouldn't be a guitar I would look to really do much of any gain on, because it's going to feedback, but here, on the bright channel, plenty bright, right, for sure for more acoustic-y stuff

 Right, so you see a really, really nice sound, I could roll off some tone and get a little bit more of this kind of sound.  So now, put up some distortion on, this will be the rich humbucker. So here, what's nice is, starting wide, there's not a ton of gain, which I like, I like to have some kind of option where it's just a nice, kind of smoother, lower gain, and then one of the things I like most, as I mentioned before, is having some kind of booster pedal at the beginning of your chain, because it almost gives several other more channels to whatever gain pedal you're using. So here is RC Booster on top of it, with channel one, it's already a nice, pretty fat rock and roll sound, well, I should tune it, but that's okay, and here's one more boost on top of it, so definitely getting into that classic rock gain thing, and again, I don't do a whole lot of high gain stuff, so that's about as gainy as I ever get, but you could even, if you wanted to, put a tube screamer on top of that for more lead and delay and all that kind of stuff, it's going to be able to do all that kind of thing too. So again, that is a Les Paul, I'm going through the bright channel too, you could certainly do normal, but again, Les Pauls are already a little dark, so for me, sometimes that normal channel will get a little bit too dark and muddy, and it's nice for the Les Paul to do bright

 It sounds really good on the bridge, and I'll get a nice twang, again, what's nice is on this bright setting, it's pretty twangy, I mean, it's got a lot of brightness to it. I can adjust that presence, which is nice, so if I put the presence up a little more, it would get even a little more twangy. If it's getting a little too harsh on that top end, I might roll some of the presence off. Now you can do the same thing with the treble, sort of, but for me, I like to kind of keep the EQ the same, and then that presence is just affecting a certain frequency

Fender 59 Bassman LTD -  Utilizing different inputs

 When I used to use this amp performing and recording all around New England years ago, this was my main amp for a very, very long time. It is still my, it's a very dear amp to me. It's my favorite amp. I've named this amp Old Yeller

 So here it is, the Full Tone Plym Soul into the Basement using a Les Paul. Now, I'm going to play a couple of clips here using the Stratocaster and the ES-335, and now for the last part, we are going to get this amp rip roaring, wide open, turned all the way up. I'm going to use the Telecaster and the Les Paul. Again with the Telecaster, I'm going to go straight into the normal channel, and I'm going to keep that slap back echo on there so that you can hear kind of that, that old school sort of, you know, very, very old bluesy rock tone, and then with the Les Paul, jumping the channels and just using the amp's natural goodness for that clip

 I'm going to use the Telecaster and the Les Paul. Again with the Telecaster, I'm going to go straight into the normal channel, and I'm going to keep that slap back echo on there so that you can hear kind of that, that old school sort of, you know, very, very old bluesy rock tone, and then with the Les Paul, jumping the channels and just using the amp's natural goodness for that clip.  I have a Les Paul with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. The DiMarzio is very bassy and has low treble naturally so I have to turn the treble and presence way up. On Channel 1 Red mode I have the Bass at 3 o clock, Mids are maxed and Treble is at 3 o clock. Presence is at 3 o clock and the Resonance is at 12 o clock

..which was what I was after. You must have a noise gate though! I don't even use the red mode of Channel 2 as it's way too gainy

 For the Tube screamer, I have the drive and volume maxed and the tone maxed. This basically sounds like Randy Rhoads type distortion..

This Marshall amp can do almost everything just short of a JVM

 This is Ultra Gain One [Music] Matthew [Music] So it's highly compressed, but it's really got that Marshall Grind [Music] Now it has Ultra Gain 2, so I'll engage that and see if there's much difference. [Music] Yeah, that is actually quite a bit different. It's really squishy and it feels like an amp that's starting to sag and it's starting to lose no definition. [Music] Yeah, it's It's lost a bit of that top end clarity

 Ultra Gain 2 sounds like it's It's like a master Gain amplifier that's absolutely cranked and it's starting to become really sort of spongy and squishy. [Music] I've just engaged the tone shift, which scoops out a lot of mid-range and leaves you with a really sort of scooped metal sound from the sort of late 80s early 90s. [music] [applause] [music] [applause] [music] [applause] The Marshall Dsl40 is an excellent pedal platform, and to demonstrate this, I'm going to use the classic Old Digitech Bad Monkey, which I'm going to use through the Classic Gain Crunch channel. I'm going to demonstrate that with both single coils and humbuckers

 This is without the Bad Monkey [Music] and this is with it. [Music] Let's show the Bad Monkey now with humbuckers. this is with it off. [Applause] Um [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Yeah, it definitely helps to focus that sound and make it a bit more sort of mid-rich and take away some of the um, really present, uh, upper mids when it comes to the ultra gain setting

Marshall DSL40CR: The Most Versatile Marshall

 So it's a real gigable sort of amp, really, it's one of those desert island amps, really does a little bit of everything. It's very versatile, you can freely switch to anything on the fly with a pedal as well. And we've given it a bit of a speaker upgrade as well, we're using a Celestion V-tine now, which is a real sweet sort of rich sounding speaker. So if you like, we'll just go into some of the sounds and we'll start off on channel one on the clean

 Okay, so this is the DSL 40 combo, again with all DSL it's all valve, so we've got ECC83 preamp valves in this, and we've got a pair of two EL34s, so we can run it at 40 watt or on low mode, drop it to roughly half power, two channels, like I say, reverb. What's really cool about the new DSL, which was one of the old ones, is we've got the two master volumes now, so anybody who remembers the old ones, there wasn't a master volume at all, you had a channel volume for each of the channels. So we've got two master volumes, so the point of having two is you can obviously set your normal master level, have a second one to give you a boost on it. Like for a solo or lead set, something like that

 And we've given it a bit of a speaker upgrade as well, we're using a Celestion V-tine now, which is a real sweet sort of rich sounding speaker. So if you like, we'll just go into some of the sounds and we'll start off on channel one on the clean. Here we go. Let's do it

Marshall DSL40CR 40W 1x12 Combo with Reverb - Demo & Tone Test

 Because you have you have the clean and crunch on the classic game channel and only one OD to an ultra gain basically so that was cool and it comes with a footswitch for switching between those settings was which works great I Like this ability to. there's not many apps that can do a really nice gain and clean. I guess it's hard like those speakers are always kind of voiced in the middle, but this it does that. really kind of sparkly fender

 It didn't do as well at at high volume or gig like it'll work, but it doesn't. It doesn't feel like it wants to be at that power output and it does kind of it. I Don't know if I smell like the speaker burning, you know whatnot, but it just felt like it might something might break. He didn't seems comfortable doing that as like a more traditional Marshall The only other main cons that the emulated out sounds pretty bad

 Sounds good at low volume like practice volume but if you crank it. I Found that I had almost no trouble and no bass. Barely any, barely any presence residents. Definitely off if it's cranked and I just used the mids

 The footswitch works with it well for the four channels the app will recall if you had the loop on or off for each individual channel as you switch between them. it will also recall which master volume you have assigned to that channel or sub channel. Because you have you have the clean and crunch on the classic game channel and only one OD to an ultra gain basically so that was cool and it comes with a footswitch for switching between those settings was which works great I Like this ability to. there's not many apps that can do a really nice gain and clean

Marshall DSL40CR Demo & Review

 To the two Ultra Gain channels work exactly the same way. You can choose a master for either mode and the amp automatically remembers your last choice. Next to Master Two, you can see that there is an effects loop on and off switch, so the effects loop is also assignable. Promote in the same way that the Master Volume is how it works is that it remembers the last setting you used per mode and you said it once and there it is

 You can tell that by the green light, press the Master Select button and you get Master Volume two. Staying in the Classic channel, we're gonna select the Crunch mode. you can tell by the red light there and you can also see that that chooses Master One. Now when we go back to the Clean mode, we're back to Master

 they each have their own master volume, etc. etc. You see where this is going anyway. What it really gives you is another level of flexibility

 Even though I'm not that sort of player, it does everything from really, really nice. Strat cleans all the way through to chunky heavy tones. And what I love about this amp is the way the EQ system works. It works really well with in conjunction with the channels

So we have the classic game channel over here and it has a green and a red channel built in, so if it's green here, you're on the lower gain or the dead clean setting
