 Hey, this is Reed's Reviews. Today I'm going to look at this Canyon by Electroharmonix. I do have to admit this pedal was a little more complicated than I thought. It took a little bit more to figure it out, but at the same time it's pretty powerful

 And that's where, you know, it's nice to have presets and to be able to change between those. So that's kind of the negative. I don't necessarily recommend it for something that you're going to be relying upon if you want to switch between the different sounds. If you want to just get the perfect delay sound and then you're going to stick with it, then yeah, I would recommend it

 I know there's a big brother to this, the Grand Canyon. I'll have to do a review on that to see the benefits of that. But as far as the quality and the sound and the features, definitely a thumbs up. As far as the ability to save your settings for the various different effects, it's not there

 Now here's the plus and minus of that. The plus is that you can do a heck of a lot with it and it's really cool. There's a lot of potential. The minus is, holy cow, if you wanted to have two of these settings and you wanted to be able to switch between both of them, oh boy, that might be kind of hard to do

 Let's check out the reverb setting. Supposedly if you turn down the feedback you get a pure kind of reverb sound, so let's do that. So that's without.

 Let's try playing something, I don't know. I've not played that for a long time. The one thing I love about this pedal, it's so versatile, how nice does that sound? So that's dumb stuff. Let's try putting on the feedback and see what happens

 It will keep playing it. And then you turn down the feedback again. You can then do a little shred part over it or lead part. So, okay, let's do an example

 Okay, so this is cool. So if you turn your feedback up for this mode, play a chord. It will keep playing it. And then you turn down the feedback again

Canyon Delay & Looper | Electro-Harmonix | Pedal Review

 The digital with or without modulation, multi-tap, warm analog, tape, and delay with reverb settings are all very useful right out of the box to cover the basics. Tap tempo with the built in switch (or an external) and quarter, eighth, and dotted eighth notes. Then add in the other less-common stuff like reverse, delay with octave, and shimmer, which also are very usable out of the box, not just toys. Pretty solid tracking

Great overall delay with lots of useful options

I was very excited to get this pedal and it sounds as good as I was hoping (and heard online in demos).  I found the versatility had more usable options than similar pedals and they sounded better to my ear.

 The true stereo in and out are great and the ping-pong mode (enabled only when using both outputs) is just a delight.

My fist pedal and I adore it

And since I was so close to having everything I wanted I went ahead and ordered a Keeley Eccos so I could finish the board. Plumes: this is a great tube screamer-ish pedal. I've always had some kind of TS pedal on my board (my first pedal ever was a digitech bad monkey) and I love to use it as a tone shaper/boost to push myself out into the mix for solos.

 I really dug the Ecos delay and looper this is a fun creative powerhouse tool really really great and Keeley makes all kinds of terrific pedals they've been at it so long. One of the original boutique pedal manufacturers they just do it right.  Now one neat thing about the pedal is that you hold down the tap button and it's going to kick the feedback up to kind of like infinite feedback and start oscillating really quickly. If you do that with a really really short delay time the pedal kind of screams at you and that's what you heard me do at the beginning of the track as well as at the end of the track so let's check that out. So it works really really well as a mod pedal as a flanger and with the added benefit of being able to get those crazy kind of screaming sounds that's pretty cool in a flanger I think and kind of unique. So using the unit for sort of more typical echo style effects and tape delay echo style sounds you've got the tap button there with different subdivisions actually so you can get quarter notes you can get dotted eighths, you can get eighth notes all kinds of subdivisions

 Crank up the feedback and you can get that delay to oscillate and depending on how you got that control set for darker or brighter delay tones you can get some wildly different sounds. Now if you set the delay time super short and set the feedback really low you can also use this pedal just as a flanger which I did actually for the first part in the song at the beginning of the video and for the last part as well and on that last part I actually really got almost like a seasick style flange going and I really liked actually just the mod tone not even using it as an echo but using it as a flanger.
