Edifier S1000MKII vs Logitech Z623

I've been really impressed with the Edifier s1000 mkii, extremely practical and well rounded speakers for the price, the fidelity and detail leaves very little to be desired. I have also not heard a bad word about the 1850s and 1700s which apparently are better suited for near field listening and probably more suited to your budget.

They look nice. They are heavy as hell, and seem solid. But the materials aren’t amazing. The wood is an excellent fake

The bad: The satellites do not do the midrange playback justice, since the sound isn't as broad and sounds as if they are cross wired. It makes me feel like I have water in my ears and I need to stretch my ears to get the water out.

** You want consumer-oriented powered speakers, that have connections and controls that are suited for use with consumer equipment. If you can go up to the $300ish range, I would suggest looking at the nicer Edifier models—maybe the S1000mkII if you can find it locally, or maybe something in the R1850 or R2000 series. If you can find any speakers made by Swan, they also have some well-liked options. FYI, **most of the speakers you listed are NOT studio monitors

\- Headset: Cooler Master MH751 (Rebranded Takstar + mic) connected to Headphone Output + Mic. STX offers me a great music quality + connecting both speakers and headset to it, and change between them just with software.

These guys aren't tiny, but they produce great sounds that fills a small living room nicely. Probably best about them is that they don't require a receiver and can be added to your TV, computer, or record player. The Bluetooth features work way better than expected and produce rich and clear sound from a phone or laptop. My only gripe there is that there isn't much security on the speakers, so really anyone could use it if it's turned on

Adam T5V/T8V) but OP has specifically separated them from consumer speakers like the Edifier. I also separate them because of aesthetics: studio monitors do sound really good, but they don't look that good on a living room. :). I do think the Edifier s2000 Pro / MKIII are really good for the price

Alternatively, I did like the look of the Logitech Z623 but was put off when realising the satellites don’t feature a separate tweeter for good clarity. I have _even_ began looking at Creative’s Pebble Plus, which are cheap as chips but began wondering if perhaps the smaller form factor may work better for me, but would they be a drop in the ocean in terms of what i’m used to?

I had done some troubleshooting and narrowed the issue down to the bass woofer plug for the right control speaker. The plug was wiggling due to poor manufacturing and soldering. Playing around with the plug brought the sound back, but no one should have to be going through this to make the product work. You'd need 2-2.5x your budget for a speaker with really good bass and that's with the Edifier S1000MKII or S1000DB model. With max 200$, I speculate that any smaller speakers like your Megaboom 3 will disappoint bass-wise. Bigger hardware and within-budget Monster SuperStar could be good

Positive reviews are generally accurate. I was looking for more base and treble control than these speakers offer.

The luna speakers have very little bass to speak of, and the z623 is nothing but bass (loose/boomy bass that isn't very good) that lacks clarity in the treble. You can run the edifiers via 3.5mm from your mobo, but if you wanted the best sound, you would need a separate dac like the topping e30 (and a separate rca-3.5mm cable)

It lives up to that rating. I use it only with Bluetooth and my iPad or iPhone. I have it about seven feet high, on top of a wide cabinet in the living room and control it with the little remote control. It’s important to remember that it can only connect to one source at a time, and it doesn’t automatically disconnect, so if you connect it to your iPhone, then find you can’t connect with your iPad, go back to your iPhone and disconnect that first

I got Airplay to work on them by buying an Apple Air Play router for the speakers, that works. They just sound great! Update on the LogiTech customer support. They are absolutely useless, if your speaker breaks. Amazon actually replaced them for me, I could not get LogiTech to repair their broken speaker, even though it was under warrantee
