Doctor’s orders and what not…. for starters, we’ve done away with the Sacred 4558 IC and the classic BJT Transistor buffers and replaced them with JFET operational amplifiers and raised the input impedance to nearly 10 Mega ohms! This offers lower noise, better signal integrity and more chime in the high end. We POWER This opamp by taking the 9V input and internally converting it to +/- 9V to give it more headroom. The end result is a more three-dimensional tone with added clarity that really pushes a nice tube amp over the edge. If you already set your amp Dirty, using this mode will make it filthy. Mode 2 is clean boost mode. This eliminates the soft clipping diodes altogether and leaves you with straight opamp drive. This is perfect for pushing your clean tone out in front or driving The preamp of an already overdriven amp into tasteful breakup territory. Mode 3 is an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement similar to the stock Screamer but with more output and clean clarity; The tone some people describe as “transparent”. it’s almost as if your clean tone is blended in with a slightly less clean tone, ya know? Using this mode gives a warmer low-end response and lower output. It’s less hard on your amp and your ears. It’s a classic pleasant tone The whole band can enjoy. Not enough for you? We’ve also improved the way the classic tone control operates while still leaving it familiar enough to keep you warm and comfortable. It’s still a safe space, No worries in here. It’s now useful through the whole range. The low end is big and clear, and the high end is bright and cutting without killing the mids. The Earthquaker Plumes is not your granddad's overdrive. Although it has screamer influences and a similar topology, the Plumes expands on both frequency response and gain by swapping out the sacred components for more interesting variety, and the result is a breath of fresh air in the overdrive world

 I’m super pleased with my purchase. This overdrive just might be the last overdrive you will need, no hype about it, real talk here. It’s that good.

This pedal “Plumes” Is excellent and high-quality, as soon as I received it I plugged it in I own several overdrive pedals, this one is the best out of all except my Mesa flux five which cost 3 times the amount of the Plumes. It spanks my Ibanez TS9 or the Joyo UD. I’m super pleased with my purchase. This overdrive just might be the last overdrive you will need, no hype about it, real talk here

 This is kind of the heavier mode, or what I like to use is the heavier mode on these plumes, and I've adjusted the gain a little bit. It's up to about more like 1 o'clock, and the level's also a little bit higher, more like 10 o'clock. So what I like about this is even though the gain is much higher in this mode, I'm still maintaining the tonal integrity and the harmonic integrity of what I'm playing, which I really like, but also getting this great analog, overdriven sound that's really natural and feels like it's coming from a tube amp instead of coming from a pedal. So I'll play a little bit for you that way

 With the bell right next to it, you could tell how compact this pedal is, but it also gives you a lot of control like that bass cut, so let's stick with the neck P90 and dial the tone, or in this case, the color back a little bit, and it just really tightens everything up. There we go. Well, we've got the bell here, let's try a little bit more bass cut with humbuckers and also try on the side that button that changes the clipping and the dynamics and compression. Now let's open things up and engage that switch on the side

 But I'd like to turn your attention to something fresh out of the gate from George Trips and Way Huge Electronics, the STO. Trips does his own magic with his classic circuit, with the input circuit using an FET op-amp instead of a discrete JFET circuit, and he swaps the 4558 op-amp for a 4741. With all these new pedal variations, they all seem to share the same goal of avoiding that mid-bump and creating an overdrive that sounds as natural as your amp just cranked up. And with it back, it's not as muddy as a lot of those traditional high-cut filters

 So now I'm going to open it up and flick the little switch with this screwdriver to turn the bass cut on, and we'll see what the difference is. Okay, so the bass cut is now on. Oh yeah, much tighter. Much tighter
