I was thinking I might have to replace them with higher quality versions considering the price point, but they're more than solid enough for me to trust them. The only downside to this tent is that it is rather heavy for a 1 person tent, even once you remove the extra stuff sacks that the stakes and poles come in and just role those up in the tent itself you're left with a rather hefty package. For the price point you're getting a really good tent for the money, but I can't help but think it could be at least a little lighter. And if you add the recommended footprint that ALPS offers it gets even heavier as a whole package

In fact, the company just announced an even lighter weight version called the Plexamid V Beta, which weighs 13.6 oz. If carrying the lightest weight tent is your number one priority, you’ll be hard-pressed to find an ultralight shelter that’s as livable as the Plexamid, without switching to a floorless tarp or cowboy camping.That said, the Plexamid wouldn’t be my choice because gear weight isn’t the most important criteria I use to pick a backpacking tent or shelter system, but there is a lot to like about the Plexamid if you’re willing to accept some of the setup nuances I describe above

Obviously a Hilleberg tent would perform better in a storm, but for its intended use, the X-mid is the best designed tent on the market. Condensation is a non-issue with the tent because of the steep angled walls. Moisture that builds up will just run down the wall and drip off the edges.

This is what really sold me. I have no intention to purchase anything but this style of tent. Its just so easy and simple, I cant imagine buying a tent with extra setup. I would sacrifice an extra 2-3 added pounds with this tent vs

Great tent for the money - easy to set up and light-weight (sure there are lighter weight options, but I digress). I'm 6'2" , 225 lbs and felt like I had plenty of room - the higher profile was great for having *some* room to move around. As far as 1P tents go, this one works really well and is super simple to set up and take down. If you are a car-camper or aren't super competitive with minimizing pack weight this tent is a great option
