Durston X-Mid 1P vs Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo

The next gen X-Mid 1P is also a lot more spacious than the Hornet 1, and more stormworthy with a full coverage fly (extends to the ground) rather than a high cut one, so basically with the X-Mid you get a shelter that is more spacious, durable, featured, and stormworthy for about the same weight because it uses trekking poles.

There are three great things about this tent. First, it weighs 24 ounces. Second, interior floor space is big enough for me and all my gear just fine. First the good. This is light and small. OK - it is a few ounces more than the claimed 1.7 lbs but very close

You could save some weight by changing out your sleeping bag and maybe even your pack (unless you absolutely love it). I was in the Sierras in August 2019 with a 15 degree mummy and in June 2021 with a 20 degree quilt and I was happy to have them.

We spoke about dimensions and what not because it seemed like lots on this sub had trouble fitting at my height and setup (6'2", LW 3" pad, pillow), and you let me know that eventually there would be a V2 that was longer. I needed a shelter quickly so I went with the Lunar Solo which I've been mostly pleased with, given that I use my second pole for the head guy-out and often a stick for the foot one too to increase volume.
