 It weighs in at about seven and a half pounds. Big solid chunk of aluminum. It exposes the underneath part of the turntable. What I've already done, too, is put a little spindle lube on the spindle there so that that runs well

 It's got some scratches on it so what I'm going to try to do is use the Novus products to go ahead and try to get the scratches out of it. I started on the turntable, I took the turntable off of the base and cleaned the base up a little bit with some 409 and got all the gunk, 50 years worth of gunk off of it. This thing is from about 1969. It's the dual 1019

 It sounds really good. I really like this turntable. I got two new cartridges for it too. I got the Ortefon series

 The turntable does work just fine. All I've done to it originally had this pickering cartridge on it that didn't have any needle in the stylus. So I tried some old junk styluses that I had around here and none of them fit this so I put an old shore I think cartridge, junk cartridge, laying around on there and tested it out and it works just fine. I'm happy about that

1965 Dual 1019 turntable service

 I just recently received this dual turntable, a gift from a local stereo store that they

 took in from a customer that didn't want it anymore, I think it was his neighbor passed

 away and wasn't sure what to do with it, so the owner of the shop gave it to me to work

 on along with a couple other items. This is what I'm going to start with. This is a dual

 1019 and I looked at this dust cover and I was wondering if that was even the original

 one because it's just this big thing that goes on top. There are no hinges or anything

 but apparently I saw some other YouTube videos and this is the one that comes with it. It's

 got some scratches on it so what I'm going to try to do is use the Novus products to

 go ahead and try to get the scratches out of it. I started on the turntable, I took

 the turntable off of the base and cleaned the base up a little bit with some 409 and

 the dual 1019. Then I used some of this Howard feeding wax after I cleaned it up to put the

 oils back in that the cleaner took off and it looks nice and new again. That's in pretty

 decent shape. The turntable does work just fine. All I've done to it originally had this

 old junk styluses that I had around here and none of them fit this so I put an old shore

 I think cartridge, junk cartridge, laying around on there and tested it out and it works

 off and lubricate the spindle and check the idler wheel. Maybe treat that with some rubbery

 new and cleaned up a little bit. I've ordered a couple of cartridges. One Ortefon Red, which

 is one that I like a lot. Then I got an Ortefon 78 that I can also mount on another extra

 head shell that I ordered so I can place 78s. This does have a four speed, four settings

 16, 33, 45 and 78. Looking forward to planting a few old 78s on it. I used the polishing

 compounds, all three of these on the dust cover. It took out a lot of the small scratches.

 They're really deep ones I think. It might require some refined sandpaper or something

 to make it out, but it looks a lot better. I'll probably go with it as is. The turntable,

 the main thing I want to do is go ahead and pull the platter. You pull this off, the spindle

 thing. There's a real small little clip there that you need that's right down in here. What

 I did is got a couple screwdriver and a knife and kind of split that out and got it out

 of there. That allows the platter to come off, which this thing is really heavy. I just

 took it over to my precision scale and weighed it. It weighs in at about seven and a half

 pounds. Big solid chunk of aluminum. It exposes the underneath part of the turntable. What

 I've already done, too, is put a little spindle lube on the spindle there so that that runs

 well. I'll use some rubber renew on the tire. To do that, dip it in there with a Q-tip.

 Just get it right here on the edge. What this stuff does is kind of softens up the rubber

 tire. Clean it up so that it has some good friction and doesn't crack. Get some dirt

 off of there and just take the other side and dry it off. There we go. I'm in here just

 to oil on that bearing, too. That's good and lubricated. I don't know if I need to do anything

 with a motor. I mean, it seems to be turning really nice and quietly. I may just let that

 go for now. There we go. Very smooth. I just need to put this little clip back on. Difficult

 thing. I haven't done this yet. Something I want to do off-camera because it's taking

 a little while at a time. I suspect. I'll get that clip back on and then put the spindle

 thing back in and we'll give it a shot. I got the clip back in. Figured out the technique

 of getting in there. Now the platter is well attached. I'll go ahead and try a couple records.

 Here's a 78. You set this on 10 inch and 78. Hit start. It's almost comical how fast this

 thing goes on 78 speed. Arm really zips over there. It starts playing. It's not hooked

 up to an amplifier right now so I don't hear anything. Then stop it. Pull out. The platter

 keeps spinning forever. It's so heavy. Got a lot of mass. Go ahead and put an old album

 on. Set it down to 33 and a 12 inch record. Runs a little slower. It starts playing again.

 So it looks like it's in pretty decent mechanical shape. I'll go ahead and put new cartridges

 on when I receive them. I think that's about all I'm going to do for the restoration unless

 something starts acting up. So far it seems to be working perfectly. I got the dual 1019

 turntable fully restored and playing down here next to my electronics workbench in the

 basement. I think I'm going to go ahead and leave this down here and use it instead of
