 Below that, a layer of soft memory foam as well to create some nice pressure relief in the top of the mattress. Below that, a layer of individually wrapped coils, very tall, very supportive as well. All that rests on a layer of base foam. What does all this mean? First off, speaking of cooling, you have a lot of room for airflow with the coils here, also breathable cover, shouldn't be a bad match for hot sleepers

 Some plusher layers on top, good with pressure relief for my shoulders and my hips. However, moving to my stomach, it is a medium-firm mattress, not quite firm enough for me as a stomach sleeper.  Typically, when I'm looking at a mattress with memory foam layers, I want to see that they're infused with graphite or some sort of cooling material to help dissipate body heat. These were just traditional memory foam layers and memory foam does have a reputation for trapping body heat. So if you're a very hot sleeper, I might recommend choosing a different mattress. And also, I don't think that this is the best bed for side sleepers

 So that's what gives this bed its bounce. It gives you quite a lot of lift and it also adds a lot of durability. And then right below that we do have a layer of support foam and that just kind of keeps help keep the mattress together and it adds a bit of durability so that the coils aren't rubbing up against your bed frame. So overall I would say that this is a really high quality bed

After trying out a handful of different mattresses and understanding the ridiculous prices of some, I’ve come to the conclusions that 1) I prefer a medium/firm bed, and 2) I’m poor. I visited IKEA today and found the $500 Heston mattress (queen size). Curious if anyone has any experience with it, how it holds up, or any advice whatsoever. Thanks in advance!

my mother has severe spinal stenosis (several discs have broken down, she's had rods and screws installed with little benefit, as well as a torn glute repair. take care of your spines, kids.) she's 56, ~155, and sleeps on her back, prefers med-firm or firm. her gentleman companion says he's comfortable on whatever. while they were moving in together I bought them a zinus, warning them that it would break down fairly quickly and need to be replaced, and that it would be a pain when it did. the time has come.

she's up every night in serious pain, and sometimes doesn't bother trying to sleep at all. her job is very difficult and both emotionally and physically demanding, especially during covid. I don't feel like I can waste her time with a bunch of returns or DIYing something, though the zippered mattresses with layers seem doable.

she's willing to spend up to $3500 and is interested in latex or a latex hybrid for its lifespan. I'd like to avoid memory foam and memory foam hybrids because if the next mattress sags within five years I'm going to turn into the Joker.

currently looking at the Alexander nest hybrid or an Ikea hesstun mattress+good latex topper, since we live fairly close to an Ikea and a return would plausibly be easier than dealing with a mattress company.
can anyone point me in the right direction, or confirm my instincts?
