This is the newly reissued dod 250 Overdrive preamp it's a classic from Well, I guess the early 80s It must be nearly 30 years old since the first one came at the old Gray one with the LM 741 op amp in it this has got the same op amp better enclosure led readout 9 volt DC power true bypass and The tone it's got the tone now in my opinion this preamp works a little bit better with an amp It's already in slight breakup mode So I'm using the clean channel of my lanny bh100r and with this Smitty S style guitar and some really rebellion pickups. It sounds like this clean If we turn the gain all the way down all the way down the dod 250 will act as a clean boost Add some gain and get some gain I'll show you what it sounds like with a very pristine clean channel first of all back the gain off again There's our clean tone You see what I mean by clean boost it's a clean boost Now as soon as we add the gain it's going to add a touch of hair most of that hair is focused in the upper mid-range So it's going to be quite sharp sanding through a very clean air Almost like a treble booster not quite but along those lines as far as old-school overdrives go That's why I think it's better off with something that has already got a bit of breakup going on It's a great sound it actually adds dynamics and punch and that frequency that just cuts through for solos and stuff Which is why a few notables have been using it for quite a while. Let's have a listen to it with humbuckers the old And with a pure clean channel So there it is the DoD overdrive preamp 250 better I think with an amp that's going into slight breakup And it will add something to the dynamics and the general punch of your sound They're widely loved, there's a reason for it, now they're better than ever

Plumes is a unique, all-analog approach to a classic tube-like overdrive circuit offering 3 different clipping voices, loads of headroom and almost three-dimensional clarity that will push your amp over the edge. The reimagined tone control is finely tuned to sculpt low end, clear top end, and focus midrange with blooming sustain. Plumes is an overdrive based around that classically overdone tube-like circuit you all know, and amps crave. While this particular circuit has been done to death, we here at EarthQuaker Devices brand of special effects pedals think the plumes offers an original take on the old, tired Dead horse everyone loves to beat on. You can’t get enough of it, so we are giving you some more. Doctor’s orders and what not…. for starters, we’ve done away with the Sacred 4558 IC and the classic BJT Transistor buffers and replaced them with JFET operational amplifiers and raised the input impedance to nearly 10 Mega ohms! This offers lower noise, better signal integrity and more chime in the high end. We POWER This opamp by taking the 9V input and internally converting it to +/- 9V to give it more headroom. Mode 3 is an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement similar to the stock Screamer but with more output and clean clarity; The tone some people describe as “transparent”. it’s almost as if your clean tone is blended in with a slightly less clean tone, ya know? Using this mode gives a warmer low-end response and lower output. It’s less hard on your amp and your ears. It’s a classic pleasant tone The whole band can enjoy. Not enough for you? The Earthquaker Plumes is not your granddad's overdrive. Although it has screamer influences and a similar topology, the Plumes expands on both frequency response and gain by swapping out the sacred components for more interesting variety, and the result is a breath of fresh air in the overdrive world

 Mode 2 has LEDs, while Mode 3 has silicon diodes. Overall, with the Plumes, I'm just hearing a lot more headroom and clarity compared to that classic screamer circuit.  I’m super pleased with my purchase. This overdrive just might be the last overdrive you will need, no hype about it, real talk here. It’s that good.

This pedal “Plumes” Is excellent and high-quality, as soon as I received it I plugged it in I own several overdrive pedals, this one is the best out of all except my Mesa flux five which cost 3 times the amount of the Plumes. It spanks my Ibanez TS9 or the Joyo UD. I’m super pleased with my purchase. This overdrive just might be the last overdrive you will need, no hype about it, real talk here

Excellent Overdrive pedal without question.

 This is kind of the heavier mode, or what I like to use is the heavier mode on these plumes, and I've adjusted the gain a little bit. It's up to about more like 1 o'clock, and the level's also a little bit higher, more like 10 o'clock. So what I like about this is even though the gain is much higher in this mode, I'm still maintaining the tonal integrity and the harmonic integrity of what I'm playing, which I really like, but also getting this great analog, overdriven sound that's really natural and feels like it's coming from a tube amp instead of coming from a pedal. So I'll play a little bit for you that way
