I've been wanting to upgrade to an MC cartridge for awhile and the opportunity recently presented itself via a NIB Denon DL-110 from Japan at an affordable price. My fears that my Musical Fidelity V90-LPS would have insufficient gain to drive it were immediately proven to be unfounded as I'm able to obtain a comfortable listening level at about 11 o'clock on the dial on my Cambridge Audio 640A amplifier. First impressions are very good, considering that the cart hasn't even begun to break in yet. It's already an improvement over my 2M Blue and Nagaoka MP-110 which were my top MM carts in my collection

 I had 6 dB attenuators, but even with the level at 0, the recording would clip. 12" dance singles will need another 6 dB on top of the 12!  I highly recommend this cartridge for medium/heavy mass tonearms, like my Pioneer. Best if you can adjust the tonearm height (Vertical Tracking Angle), so you get the best sound. Also a protractor like I mentioned above will help with the overhang and alignment

 Dropping the needle on Micheal Jackson's Billy Jean from "Thriller", another track that give cartridges issues, played very well. The sound stage width is very nice, too.  As far as output, it is plenty loud. I record LPs onto a Tascam DR-05X and had to place a pair 12 dB attenuators in line to give me some level adjustment

 My Blue Point slurred the S's and the Audio Technica cartridge on my Technics SL-1700 also was very sibilant. The Denon reproduces the S's very sharply with no overt sibilance. Dropping the needle on Micheal Jackson's Billy Jean from "Thriller", another track that give cartridges issues, played very well. The sound stage width is very nice, too

, although it does haves some low level hum. The Grado is easier to listen to and plenty of detail, the smooth sound is very nice. Denon is tiring after a couple hours, but a great party cartridge, really rocks. Both are good

I used this cartridge in the latest Rega RP3, NAD 350, HD650, very clear but with a harsh edge. I am now using a Grado Reference Platinum 2, which is as clear as the Denon but smoother. The Denon is very good but a bit aggressive. My preference is the Grado

 Even the bass sounds like high notes. Let me repeat that. The BASS sounds like high notes.  Even after 20 hours of break-in, there was no improvement

 The popping went away in Phono, so I figured no big deal, swapped to Phono and:  Issue 2: So. Much. Treble. If I were to graph it: 2/10 on bass, 0/10 on mid, 11/10 on treble

This is a much more sophisticated stand-up from its predecessor. Obviously people have found that we really like the nag carts and so that's one of the reasons that we go with these. These are going to be a lot more pricey than some of like your standard cartridges but at this time let me go ahead and we'll do a quick audio comparison

 It's much deeper, the dynamics are far more extended, stronger mid-range which provides more coherent like vibrant sounds for sure, greater separation compared to the predecessor of the 110. You know at some point I will do a comparison between the 110 and the 150 because I mean I can tell you guys for sure that the 110 is definitely still a really great cartridge but yeah the 150 really seems so far anyway to really be living up to its to its name in the example you know. You know is it worth $300? You know I think that I think that if you are more serious about you know vinyl records and listening to your music and getting the best experience that you possibly can I think that there is something to be said for the 150 in comparison to other you know cartridges. I think that especially if you you know have the means of being able to get one of these I think that it can be a significantly better upgrade

 Yeah it's a really great cartridge and I hope that you guys have enjoyed this this quick review and at some point here really soon I'm gonna have some stylus drops done of this new cartridge that's providing hopefully better audio quality and sound to the channel. A Quick Review: Nagaoka MP-150 Phono Cartridge

 Hey everyone, it's Chad with CJ's Vinyl and today I'm bringing you another quick

 review of the next upgrade in our audio file setup. It's the Nagaoka MP-150

 moving permaloy cartridge and in this is the just the cartridge itself actually

 was the purchase for this. I had an Extra Techniques head shell that I've

 attached it to but the packaging for this from Nagaoka you would expect is

 quite nice. We have the instructions back here along with there's a set of small

 screws and a screwdriver that they include inside of this package. This is

 actually quite nicely put together but this is the packaging that it comes in

 for the cartridge and as mentioned before unlike the other one we do not

 have the Nagaoka cartridge or the head shell for this one. This is the Techniques

 head shell that I had. A few quick specs would be the output voltage is 4.5

 mils. Channel separation is 24 decibels. Stylus tip is another standard mil

 elliptical diamond. Recommended tracking force is 1.5 to 2 grams. Cartridge weight

 is six and a half grams but adding the Nagaoka head shell would be an

 additional 9.5 making it 16. I can't tell you how much it is with the Techniques

 head shell but I can certainly say that being an aluminum head shell and then

 the spacer that's put in here is also aluminum as well so that's going to add

 extra weight. If you're just getting into vinyl I don't know if the price tag of

 this is something that's going to be very appealing unless you really have a

 lot more money to invest. The price tag of the 150 comes in at around $300 so

 it's certainly a more expensive cart and at $300 I certainly wouldn't classify
