Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill vs Eureka Mignon Silenzio

-The grind size is inconsistent on all settings: Not that much of a problem for me but again, subjective on my part. -The grinding times are not dependable: Even when set for the longest grinding time, the burr mill would routinely stop before completely grinding the 35g of beans that I had pre-measured. Since I never relied on this feature to begin with, that this function routinely failed to operate correctly was an annoyance but not an important feature for me. The mediocre performance of this machine gave me little user satisfaction but I was at least able to make a decent cup of coffee with the fresh grounds that it so ineptly produced

The grind dial is labeled 0-5, but that means literally nothing as the dial can go all the way around like ten times. This was my first espresso grinder and I had nobody to teach me, so I had no guidance on grind size. Due to the dial's numbers meaning nothing, I couldn't find a starting point online either. Two months of putting way too fine grinds in, leading to extreme channeling, leading me to spend hundreds on new baskets, expensive calibrated tampers/distributes, and a naked portafilter

There are some downsides to this grinder depending on the intended coffee method. For drip or French Press, works great. If grinding for Espresso or Turkish style coffee, I would not recommend. The grinder is on the loud side, so if you don't want to wake up your house mates in the morning you may want to skip this grinder

Debated between this or the Baratza lineup. What made me settle on this over the Baratza were a few key features based on a video comparison from Seattle Coffee Gear. The first is that it is quieter. Not completely silent, obviously, but much quieter than any blade grinder and audiably quieter than the Baratza
