 I am talking about deteriorating down to 16MB to 20MB per second write speed. Apparently without TRIM support, the built-in "Active Garbage Collection" is wholly inadequate to maintain performance. I have both a 1TB and a 2TB X8. I use both via USB on my 2013 Macbook Pro.  (2) As the available space decreases, so does the writing speed. When it reaches 80% it becomes slower then an old IDE hard drive. This thing has serious design issues written all over it. This is not a cable issue, i tried with the cable provided and other quality ones, and the behaviour is the same, you simply cannot use the whole capacity because as you begin to aproach it the writting speed becomes abismal

Misleading specs

Awful write speeds...

 Definitely not a high-performance external drive that is intended for sustained use. It might be decent for backing up data and moving files around but dont expect to read and write large amounts of data to it for sustained periods of time (more than one hour) otherwise it will overheat and begin to have all sorts of issues.

 I'm giving this item 3 stars because, despite being more than fast enough, I think I got a faulty unit. It struggles with sustained loads and sometimes renders Final Cut Pro frozen after prolonged periods of editing. I've never had this happen on any SSDs before, much less SanDisk ones. I made sure it wasn't my computer or software wigging out

  This 2000MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is really fast. I have always had basic HDDs and even a new Seagate 1TB, so I was amazed at the transfer speeds.  Soft silicone grippy back and edges on both sides
