Crosley C6 vs Fluance RT85

Your best bet really is to sell this record player abd buy something better. I dont know what your wife see's in this thing because I think it is a monstrosity but a proper turntable and speakers will certainly sound (and in my opinion look) much better. A good choice for a setup for the same price would be a Crosley C6 and Edifier powered speakers.

I am not an audiophile, just a guy who likes to listen to records. I bought the white Fluance RT85 because of the positive reviews and because it looked cool with its acrylic platter, etc. I have owned many different turntables and record players over the years, but this one is the most expensive. Overall it's an okay turntable, but that's probably as far as I would go with it

In the US I would say the cheapest turntable worth recommending is the Crosley C6 (cheapest one I’ve seen with a proper cartridge mount and tracking force adjustment). If you’re talking about used turntables, then the answer is entry level Technics turntables with direct drive motors and P-Mount tonearms.

The best bargain at this price is the Fluance RT85. It comes with an Ortofon 2M Blue, which has a superior stylus compared to what’s on any of these others (nude tip rather than bonded).

I have it hooked into a Marshall speaker with RCA cables and I hear depth on this that I had never heard on my old player. I think Crosley turned out a good piece of equipment here at a great value. Really happy with the purchase and would recommend to someone looking to get into vinyl or upgrade equipment without going into the $3-500 range for an "entry level" unit.

Turntable is a Fluance RT85 with an Ortofon 2m Bronze. Everything is running out to Paradigm 3/4 speakers and sounds great for my needs.

This is not a plug n play unit. you MUST balance the tonearm, I balanced mine and set the weight to 2.75 grams, plays perfect, no skips. Turn the power switch on

The three rubber isolation feet are easy to adjust and have kept the plinth true. The solid acrylic platter adds a sense of heft and sturdiness. I always use a platter weight as well and the FLUANCE offering does a fine job. The smoked acrylic dust cover is what you'd expect

Crosley C6, best bang for the buck! Paired with a set of Klipsch 5.1 mix and match speakers and King Crimson album Red, all set and what awesome noise to the ear! Buy it!

In the end, I decided on the Fluance RT85 because of a couple of items. I was looking to start a bit cheaper, but the Blue 2M cartridge that came on the Fluance was the deciding factor and I am so glad I went this route. The other reasons were the acrylic platter and the physical switch for the 33/45 instead of having to switch the belt like in many similar priced turntables.
