Crosley C6

Your best bet really is to sell this record player abd buy something better. I dont know what your wife see's in this thing because I think it is a monstrosity but a proper turntable and speakers will certainly sound (and in my opinion look) much better. A good choice for a setup for the same price would be a Crosley C6 and Edifier powered speakers.

Great product for the value and worked fine when I first bought it. After about a week of use the motor that spins the record started to get increasingly louder and louder. hello! just purchased a crosley c6 as my wife’s first record player - i was originally just going to get a suitcase player and then essentially went down an intro to audiophilia rabbithole and now know better lmao (and i know crosley gets a bad name but the c6 has all the components of a good entry level turntable so i think it’ll be a good gift!). Purchased as part of 1964 consul stereo rebuild. Unfortunately a small knob on the back of the unit made it to big to fit in the cabinet. wish it would have fit.

Neither of those turntables have removable cartridges or adjustable counterweights. They’re both basically toys. You cannot change the cart on this “Voksun”—it has the same permanently attached garbage cartridge as a suitcase turntable has. If you want the absolute cheapest setup that’s actually a real turntable and not a disposable toy (meaning something that has basic adjustability and can use a decent cartridge/stylus), get either a Crosley C6 or the Target Heyday turntable (both of which come with an AT3600L cartridge) and stick an elliptical stylus on it, such as [this

I don't like how hard it is to get the arm balanced , if the arm is balanced as videos show you usually it's to light and albums will skip.

In the US I would say the cheapest turntable worth recommending is the Crosley C6 (cheapest one I’ve seen with a proper cartridge mount and tracking force adjustment). If you’re talking about used turntables, then the answer is entry level Technics turntables with direct drive motors and P-Mount tonearms.

My other Crosley suitcase player stopped working one day out of the blue - it was never right anyway. After much research I went with this one, but did make a few concessions. I like Monoprice, but their turntables are basically fancy versions of the Crosley C6. For the $200-250 they are asking for them there are better options. Fluance RT80, RT81, AT-LP3 to name a few that also have built-in preamps. A basic U-Turn Orbit if you already have or don’t need a phono preamp.

A word of warning before we get to the good bits: If you are shipping this product, or any turntable that employs a synchronous motor, from the USA, where the electricity is supplied at 60Hz, to a country that uses 50Hz, beware!
