  Folks, this is a $42 wrist watch. And I think it is an incredible value for $42. So here are some thoughts and comments:  First, the nylon band is quite comfortable, much more comfortable than the resin bands found on most of the Casio G-Shock watches. The band seems stiff at first, but in short order it will soften up and contour to your wrist

  On the down side: The the leather ends that attach the band to the watch are pretty much completely worn out, but the fabric looks essentially new. I don't think it is ready to fall off my wrist, but the band is starting to look a bit shabby.  After 4 years of hard use and abuse it is time to replace the strap and possibly the battery. As I mentioned in my initial review, the cost of a replacement cloth/leather band and a new battery come quite close to the current price of a totally new watch (about $38 today)

 The timer, barometer/altimeter, alarms and displays are all still working as they should. The alarm is still loud enough to wake me up when needed. None of the functions have failed. The watch is still waterproof (I have not replaced the main seal/gasket)

Good, rugged and comfortable watch

 It's not a good choice if the main thing you want to be able to do is glance at it very quickly and see instantly what time it is. That said, the buttons work well and it looks like it can take some abuse. I've had lousy luck getting Timex watches to last, so if this proves to be durable, it's probably worth it even though I paid extra for features I'll never use.

the thermometer is useless because you're supposed to have the watch off of ...

 So, I tend to not wear it when I am warmer that comfort allows. The back-light lasts only for what seems to be 1.5 or 1.0 seconds, I find myself pushing it more than once to see the items I am wishing to see

Exactly what I needed/wanted in a digital watch

This watch is smaller than the 50 mm I expected but the quality look and feel makes up for it. I presume they measured side to side including the sensor on the left side of the crown. Numbers are smaller than expected in the face of the timepiece but clean and clear. Strap is 100% great

 Unfortunately I don't know the material it's made of. Now I am thinking about buying some diver watch because I want to something versatile for all conditions as this snk809 has only 50m water resistance what isn't enough for me.

 I'm OK with that because I just don't care anymore. +11 seconds a day just means I adjust it back a minute or so every week. But if you're looking for quartz accuracy, no automatic movement is going to sit well with you.  The only real negative thing about the SNK809 is the strap

  Aside from the strap, there's little to criticize about this watch, especially at the $75 price point. Stop reading reviews, and just pull the trigger. Buy this thing; you won't be disappointed.  SIX-MONTH UPDATE: Still wearing this watch every day

 But if you're looking for quartz accuracy, no automatic movement is going to sit well with you.  The only real negative thing about the SNK809 is the strap. Seriously, the nato strap on the aforementioned Timex Weekender is way better than this poor excuse for a watch strap. I know I'm not the first person to say this, but you should just plan to spend an extra $10 on a decent nato strap, because the stock strap is junk

Great Little Everyday Automatic Watch

 I replaced the original band, though, with a few Nato-style bands. The watch - being an automatic - is a bit tall (thick) so I'd recommend a band with thinner material if you go Nato, like a BluShark Original. It looks good with a solid black band, or a band with stripes of black and gray or black, gray, and blue (Bond style).  I've had the watch for 3+ weeks

 I'm not a fan of the gargantuan dishplate-sized watches that are in vogue today. This watch is the perfect size in my opinion.  Some might consider the dial a bit busy and harder to read, but I like the look. The brushed metal finish is nice too

 It's worked fine. I haven't worn it daily - maybe three or 4 days at a time, and then I wear a different one for a few days. It keeps reliable time - although it may lose almost a minute every 3 days or so which I consider ok for a mechanical watch, especially one at this price. If you want precision time, get a quartz watch, but you lose the craftsman ship of a mechanical watch

Great automatic watch for the price from a reputable manufacturer

 I swapped out the straps as soon as I got the watch and alternate between a black nato, olive green nato, and black canvas strap. It works so well with all of them! I would highly recommend ordering better straps as it single handedly makes the watch look and feel so much nicer.  TLDR: After 4 years of owning the snk809 and an ever expanding watch collection it is still one of the watches I wear most often. Still keeping great time and still loving it

 The crown at the 4 o'clock position further makes the watch comfortable to wear since it doesn't dig into my wrist when I extend it..  The movement is the 7s26 automatic which is a proven and durable movement. Mine keeps time at the +3 seconds a day

 There is a clear case back so the movement is visible. The watch is the perfect size. At 37mm it hits the perfect size for wristwatches which adds a nice touch to outfits without screaming for attention. It sits comfortably on the wrist without adding bulk, I haven't dinged or dented the case in the 4 years that I've had it which also speaks to the quality of the case as I have bumped it on doorknobs and stuff occasionally

  The movement is the 7s26 automatic which is a proven and durable movement. Mine keeps time at the +3 seconds a day. Although there is no hacking or manual winding, give the watch the "Seiko shake" and it starts right back up. My watchmaker told me last month that it still does not need a service/cleaning

 But yeah, that one surprised me.  I've had terrible luck with watches, and they always break. So I've never wanted to spend a lot of money on a watch. But this has been an excellent watch for me, and has stood up to the abuse

  But it's a durable watch, I've taken it swimming, had it in the shower, done dishes and bathed the kids and I don't have to worry about water, which is great. This is a great every day watch, or something you can take camping and don't have to worry about being in the elements. It's not a dive watch though, and I wouldn't exceed the resistence rating.  The Lume looks great, and it's reasonably bright

  It's pretty good on the accuracy, but I've found it does tend to run a little fast, and after a week or two I'm running a couple of minutes fast, so I do have to adjust the time every now and then if I don't want to be 5+ minutes ahead all the time. It doesn't wind down on me though, as long as I wear it every day there's no need to constantly adjust the time, which is nice. If I go more than a day then I have to wind it again, but that's really not terrible, and I just set the date and time and get back to work.  It's also surprisingly quiet

 So I've never wanted to spend a lot of money on a watch. But this has been an excellent watch for me, and has stood up to the abuse. Perhaps it helps that it's not very big, and the profile is rather thin so it rarely gets caught on anything. But yeah, about 7 months or so of wearing nearly every day and it's been a champ!  Very happy with my purchase and would buy it again

In an age where the watch industry is dominated by lazy, gaudy, oversized chinese-made garbage such as MVMT, Vincero, or Daniel Wellington, it’s reassuring to know that there are still timepieces from collections such as the Seiko SNK Series that are valiantly fighting back. This watch astounds in this regard with a better movement, a more reasonable case size, and better aesthetics than the offerings of the above brands, at only a fraction of the cost. These fashion watch brands asking $149 for a 46mm quartz watch is laughable compared to this tasteful, versatile, and understated flieger watch with 140 years of heritage behind it

 This watch is shipped with a two-piece nylon strap, which is its weakest point, but switching it out with a leather or silicon band really breathes a new life into this watch. On leather, this band pairs beautifully with a suit or a button-down, but still maintains that rugged 1940’s pilot’s watch feel.
