Canon EOS Rebel T8i vs Nikon D40

6x crop sensor plus a 2x crop for 4k video. I recorded to a Ninja V (mainly to be able to break the 30 minute mark). Footage looks good for the price on an entry level camera. Not a huge dynamic range, but it looks good, especially after being able to dial things in with the tools on the Ninja V

Your 35mm lens will be great for video. My daughter uses the 35mm all the time for video on her Nikon.

Always fuzzy. This is my issue, not the camera's I’m sure. Or so I thought but upon reading many Canon lens reviews I find a common thread among some is the auto focus either doesn’t work or stops working. You could really even look at a t7, same camera really, big drawback is no flip screen but it’s less than half the price, otherwise just get the t8i or sl3 you will be able to take fantastic photos with any of them, modern camera sensors are so good and that is a decent kit lens, you can add an ef-s 55-250 is stm lens as well if you want a nice telephoto zoom to complete the kit. You will be more than happy with the quality of images you can produce, the only limitation will really be your technique,.

The flip screen is definitely a bigggg plus! Also it comes with a lot of easy setting for beginners. I don’t use them often but they do come in handy here and there. I prefer shooting in RAW and in Manual. But even if you are still learning the auto settings are pretty dope! I also love how I can’t transfer photos without removing my SD card! The only reason why this didn’t get 5 stars is because it came with the wrong battery charger! I received a LC-E12 charger instead of an LC-E17

I do like that it is pretty lightweight and for a female it just means she might use it more because it's easier to carry. Now I do like that on the T8i getting lenses are pretty easy and don't really need many accessories for it. Another concern of mine is night time photography. I'm not sure if it's the lenses that really matters but taking pictures of the night sky and star exposures is something that stands out as well, and in that regards I don't know which is better

I researched for months on great entry level camera and I am a Canon person. This meets everything I need. Camera is perfect if you want it to do camera and video. I did not need big 4k video so this one worked great

The editing software from Canon is also great. The first pic is with a 24mm prime lens and the second and third pic is a 50mm prime. All were edited in Canon's Digital Photo Professional 4. The fourth is the 18-55 lens that comes with the camera and not edited (It's the first day I went out to use the camera)

I wanted to do some sports photography of my kids (basketball, soccer, swimming) and after comparing photos from a digital SLR against my 8-megapixel point & shoot, I decided the benefits of the larger SLR sensor were worth the extra size and expense. In looking at the kind of outfit I would need, it was apparent that a fast zoom lens, preferably with shake reduction, was going to be required and settled on the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR. I was happy with the first few test shots but then I took it on the trip I bought it for and the battery just ran out almost immediately. I thought it was nothing at first and charged it again but it keeps happening. I hate returning things but this is a big problem.
