 The AVCHD, the image you get off the camera is fantastic, but you can record all day long. You know, the AVCHD codec is going to really give you those small file sizes. The built-in ND filters are fantastic. If you, me, any photographer, any videographer had our choice, you'd have them on every camera that you use

 If you don't, you could run into some issues in grading. But ask yourself this question, what are you going to use it for? For me, I knew I wanted to use it for interviews, the interview setting indoors, the kind of work that I do, and on-camera stuff for myself, and that kind of thing. So interviews, I'm primarily in an indoor setting, for the most part, where I'm going to control the lighting completely and make sure I've got this exposure dialed in exactly where I want it, everything focused where you want it. And I just wanted this camera for that purpose, for that image quality, those skin tones, and the way that Canon Cinema Line spits out the image

Canon c100 mark 1: Review

 Hey what's up? I'm Matt. I recently got a Canon C100. The original one, not the Mark

 So I started out with these two cameras, GH5, of course I have it on a cage there, and the

 Canon 70D. And this was kind of A camera, the GH5, still kind of is in some ways,

 and B camera, Canon 70D. And as you know, you know the 70D is kind of sort of

 prosumer, more of a vlogging camera, and the GH5 is a phenomenal camera. It's kind

 of expensive, but you know, 4k and the different frame rates that you can get,

 the high frame rates for slow motion, 422 10-bit, it just gives you all those great

 codecs. There's so much you can do with GH5.

 But what I really wanted to do was get in a situation where I could use the GH5

 kind of as camera B slash B-roll camera, and have an A camera for interviews. So

 because of all the slow motion capability, and the 4k, and the 422 10-bit,

 and everything you do with the GH5, I didn't necessarily need to go out and pay

 for that, again for my purposes, in another camera. What I did want to do

 however, was in an A camera for interviews, on camera stuff, I wanted the

 best image I could get, price a consideration as well. So the original

 C100 with it's AVCHD, and everything that comes along with it, was exactly what I

 So let's go over some of the pros versus the cons after having a camera for a

 while and getting to use it. Number one, the controls on the C100 are intuitive.

 It's easy to understand, it's easy to use, it's all labeled. When you get into the

 user manual and some of the tutorials online, it's not hard at all to kind of

 start to use it to best suit you. Even to set some of the custom functions, custom

 buttons, you can remember those easily. So it's just very easy to use. That's pro

 number one. Also ergonomically, it's really good. It fits in the hand. I've got

 these great big hands, but you know it fits in there easily for me. See my hand

 fits in the handle really nicely. You got this handle right here on the side that

 you have the strap, which you can use or not use if you want. Your hands gonna

 slide in there and this is adjustable kind of according to the width or girth

 of your hand, like Brian Regan said. I don't even know what girth means. The

 toggles on your thumb, the record button on your thumb, use the off-hand for some

 of the other stuff, the ND filters, the one-shot autofocus. So ergonomically, it's

 built well and it's not heavy. So on a tripod in a studio like I use it for

 interview stuff, on camera stuff, not a big deal, but certainly even if you were

 out and about, you know, running gun with it, it's not heavy and it's easy to use.

 Also the LCD screen is nice. Anything indoors, it works great. Okay and I've

 heard all the other stuff about the other LCD screens being better, but this

 is certainly good enough, especially indoors, and you can put that waveform

 monitor on there so you can see it. It gives you the waveform monitor so you

 can get that exposure exactly like you want it, which is a huge deal to be able

 to have that on the camera out of the box. Now on the pro side, the AVCHD

 codec. Now we'll get to the con side later, but in terms of file size, you can

 shoot on SD cards. The AVCHD, the image you get off the camera is fantastic, but

 you can record all day long. You know, the AVCHD codec is going to really give

 you those small file sizes. The built-in ND filters are fantastic. If you, me, any

 photographer, any videographer had our choice, you'd have them on every camera

 that you use. They are so much of a crutch. You avoid having to put the

 variable on the end of your lens or, you know, switching them out if you don't

 have the variable, and with this, given its low-light capability, a native ISO of

 850, it's kind of a necessity when you're out in bright situations, but you'll find
