The camera shake that occurs from the impact of an SLR's mirror can leave blurred details in the recorded image. This effect is magnified when working with a super high-resolution sensor like the one found in the EOS 5DS R camera. To counter the effects of conventional, spring-driven SLR mirrors, the EOS 5DS R features a newly developed Mirror Vibration Control system. The camera's mirror is not controlled by springs but instead is driven by a small motor and cams. This system suppresses the impact typical of the camera's mirror, significantly reducing impact and its effects on the image. A new Time Release Lag setting, easily accessed on the EOS 5DS R's menu system offers added protection against camera-shake blur by setting the shutter release time intentionally longer so the camera does not begin the exposure until after the impact of the camera's mirror has diffused.

With Canon's Anti-flicker function, the EOS 5DS R camera is able to deliver accurate results under cycling lighting situations. Under flickering light, such as fluorescent lighting, a fast shutter speed may result in an irregular exposure. The EOS 5DS R's Anti-flicker function detects the frequency and phase of the flicker and captures images near the point of peak brightness when the subject is most likely well illuminated.

The EOS 5DS R camera offers time-lapse fixed-point shooting and long exposures without the need for a remote control.  You could look at it either one of two ways. You could save $200 and still get incredibly sharp images with the S or you could think that if you're spending this amount of money anyway why not go the whole hog and get the R. The 5DS and 5DS R might not be exciting updates. It is all about that increase in resolution really but they're not exactly the next evolution in the 5D Mark series anyway

 Oh got it? Yes. Yes the images are quite extraordinary. The ARS files are sharp with the delicate fine details rendered with such crispness. The S is no slouch either however

 So the 5DS R should be a bit sharper. The thing is, the supposed lack of anti-aliasing filter with the R is implemented in the same way as the Nikon D800e, in that it does have a filter. It's just that the effect is cancelled out. Whatever megapixel count has been bumped up to 50 megapixels, there are compromises

 It's also got a new metering system, which is new. So you've got all the other latest Canon features. Anti flicker shoot. It's for people who don't like flicker

 The 5DS and 5DS R might not be exciting updates. It is all about that increase in resolution really but they're not exactly the next evolution in the 5D Mark series anyway. Resolution will appeal to those who need to produce images that can print big or that need all that detail or enthusiasts with a liking for ridiculously detailed images will flock to them too. Either way they will appeal to people who already know why they need one

Canon EOS 5Ds & 5Ds R Hands-on Review

 I use the 16 to 35 2.8, use the 24 to 70 2.8, the brand new 11 to 24 F4 and of course the 70 to 200 2.8

6 megapixels of goodness on this sensor, it's going to be important to use the best of the best glass with Honor Sur. So any of the newer L lenses are going to be better options to use. I use the 16 to 35 2.8, use the 24 to 70 2

 How can you forget the 85 1.2, the 50 1.2, those are the type of lenses that you would put on this especially for landscapes and especially when you're shooting portraits. The best glass is what you want to put on this

 I went out and shot this for the real world review at the Grand Canyon to put it through its paces to really put it out there and try to use it to the best of its ability. Now I didn't shoot portraits but this is a great camera designed for portraits as well. Well you have to decide, do you want the R or do you want the S because if you're going to shoot portraits with the R and you have fine patterns in shirts, you may get some moraying but who is this camera for? One we said landscape shooters, two we've got portrait photographers but is it for people shooting video? If you're looking to shoot video, this is not the camera for you. So before we jump into anything else, here's why it's not for video

 So you know this was a fantastic camera. Yes it didn't change very much in terms of the design of the camera but it's the innards that matter, the larger megapixel sensor, the ability that you can cancel the low pass filter with the 5D SR version. The quicker transfer rates that you can do if you're shooting tethered for the studio but in my real world review out at the Grand Canyon, I used it for the landscapes. I'm very happy with the colors, the sharpness, the quality, the feel of the camera

 You can pick up a Nikon D700 or Canon 6D in the used market for less than $500 and they give you better, sharper images than the two new cameras you are looking at. In fact, the newer Nikon D750 FF body costs around $700 used, and it is definitely a better buy than a new D3500.  The D700 and D750 WILL also autofocus with AF and AF-D lenses since these high end Nikon cameras have an in body focus motor.  If you do not mind buying a used camera, I would recommend shopping for a used FF model instead of buying a new APS-C camera

With Canon you have a wider choice of lenses because they are compatible with lenses made all the way back since the 1990s.  With Nikon, the low end models will only autofocus with AF-S lenses with a focus motor inside the lens. They will not autofocus with AF and AF-D lenses because these lenses need a focus motor in the camera, and the low end Nikon cameras no longer have an inbody focus motor. That is a real disadvantage

Hello! Im a 2nd yr college student in arts school. For this year we are gonna have a photography class and ofcourse we need a camera. Looking at the stores near me, the units/brand I saw are Canon eos 1500D and Nikon D3500 (both brand new, with the kit lens). These cameras are just with in my budget. What are your guys opinions and what are the Pros and Cons between them? 

Im not really well versed with cameras, compared to laptops so this is really unknown territory for me. Thanks for the help!
