 It's one of the more popular stability running shoes in the Brooks range and it provides stability using guide rails. They sit at each side of the shoe, you can see them there and they act a little bit like the bumpers at a bowling alley and that means that if your foot doesn't really roll at all when it's landing then the guide rails are not going to get in the way of the way that you run but if it does roll one way or the other the guide rails are going to kind of prevent that from happening somewhat and this is particularly what Brooks say, it's particularly important to try to avoid knee injuries. Now the other stability feature that I always mention is the heel counter. It's a pretty solid heel counter in this shoe, mainly internal but there's a little bit of external element to it there as well and you'll find that in stability shoes it's going to keep the heel locked into the shoe and it does that really well on this shoe

There is this other thing here which is new on the 21, I don't know if you can see that but I'm not really sure of the purpose, whether that's adding any, it's a bit squishy, whether that's adding, it's on both sides, whether that's adding any more stability I'm not really sure, I'm not really sure what it's for at all actually to be honest but there you go. Now the midsole on this, they have changed it in this model, they have used their DNA loft midsole all the way through from heel to toe and they say that that helps with the whole transition

 A quick mention to the weight of the shoe, now this is not trying to be a lightweight shoe, most stability shoes aren't. They have managed though to knock a few grams off of the weight compared to the previous version of this shoe. Up on the screen now what my size weighs, now I'm a UK size 11 so just bear that in mind and as I say yeah not lightweight by any means but at least they have reduced the weight slightly from what it was last year. Now the GTS stands for go to shoe and Brooks are basically saying you can wear this shoe for any of your runs so you could wear it yes for shorter runs for the 5k park runs for your 10k's but for me this shoe works best for half marathon distance or above or and whether you're doing a race at that distance or just your long runs

I quit running because I have a click in my ankle that gets inflamed after about 3 miles, but I've come to understand that's because of tight/weak calves, weak ankles, and underactive glutes, so I'm working on that. I have a pretty pronounced pronation and heel strike which I'm working on as well, but could use some shoes with arch support.  


I don't need anything geared toward super long runs, as right now I'm not even sure I could finish a 5k without walking. Ideally I'd be able to find some women's shoes, but I have really big feet (11/11.5 in women's) and would take a 9.5/10 in men's.   


Any reccommendations would be much appreciated!

 Moreover, the quality is not that great. I had a hole the side and front of the shoes peeled off. Usually, when I buy stunning shoes it lasts forever, but this one didn’t last 6 months. For the price I expect it to last at least one year

 Just it's pretty roomy. If you have a higher volume foot or maybe even a wider foot or one more room, toe box, you're, probably gon na really like this shoe, i had to lock it down like three times during my last long run. That'S why we thought maybe megan would like this shoe yeah, but she didn't get it. So we don't know - and maybe this is one we should get on jared's feet as well

 Now we have the sketchers max road, five, a little bit of history lesson. May i let's go back to this one we'll get into the whole room? Is it just getting chilly in here because i feel like i need a sweater here, all right, the skechers max rode four. I love this shoe except we got it in like august. We got it in the middle of summer and it really turned me off, because when we put it on your foot sweats and that knit upper didn't really hold me, it was securely over the midsole

 Geometry is what they're calling it now instead of m strike, really just rolls you perfectly to the stride. I mean this is like a tailor made foot midsole shape for you like this is hitting your stride perfect. I'M excited i'm going to try this a little bit later, because robbie's been talking about so much that it's up for contention for a high ranking shoe in our countdown for the year. So i want to try it, but it sounds like this just nails

 They don't always hit a home run, but they were one of the first ones to bring in that midsole. What do you call that romney, the hyper burst? Midsole, nitrogen infused super critical, just good feeling, midsole long lasting, it's a bunch of jargon but point being everybody's, basically moving towards that in one way or another, you've seen it in all the puma shoes this year, uh brooks hyperion line uh. What else i mean everybody's got some version of it. I don't know

 I think the Maxroad wont suit everyone but for me its deserves some praise, better than most Hokas, Nikes, Adidas etc for a cushioned daily trainers.

Would the Skechers MaxRoad5 receive such high praise if it were a Nike, Adidas, Hoka shoe?

 So it's the puma dv8 nitro elite. It'S really the first shoe that i've tested in a long time where i'm gon na tell you it's too soft and i love kind of a softer ride to baby these legs a little bit and it's just too soft underfoot the puma dv8 nitro elite, whereas this Guy is soft, but it's not it's just it's just the right amount for that durometer score. So in addition, one more point for the midsole. I know i'm going on here: it's a carbon infused h plate and if i can find a picture of it, i'll put it on the screen right now, if not, i'm just snapping my finger alone here in the studio, all right, so carbon infused, h plate

 The tongue is not gusseted, but i haven't had any problems in terms of the way it lays on the top of my foot. We'Ve got good gear rubber on the outsole, with the pods um, which obviously saves weight by not having one big lump of um hyper burst, uh what else? What else? What else fits truth to sight? True to size? This is uk nine and a half no problems in terms of fit loads of room in the toe box and loads of height as well. So that's good news and you don't seem to get the the curving like some of the sketchers shoes can rub a little bit if you're not used to them um. But this is no problem with that
