Brentwood DF-701 vs T-Fal Ultimate EZ-Clean Fryer

I have this deep fryer, and it was driving me crazy with the temperature- it kept turning off when it was no way near hot enough. I was even checking with a thermometer (so lid was off). I decided to try one more time, and I don't know WHY, but I used the lid. I had never deep fried with a lid- my old deep fryer only used the lid for storage when oil was in it

I used coconut oil and canola oil. Also, since the capacity is small, it can only handle small portions otherwise it’ll boil over so you have to watch it like a baby. The pic shows two regular size egg rolls which can handle ok. If you add more, it will boil and bubble over as pictured
