Boss katana 100, solid state amp with a lot of effect that you can configure to get the tone you want.

None of the amp models that this had (Brown/Crunch/Lead/etc.) went quite heavy enough for the sound I was particularly seeking. i.e

Effects, and ranges of tones and distortion/gains. What I liked about the Boss Katana was that it had mad built in effects, and a dope foot switch. I loved my original amp because it had ~16 crappy effects built in, so I’m thinking that maybe I should just grab the Katana back and run effects on that, and the Marshall can stay its lovely dry self. Katana did have a smattering of effects I highly enjoyed, and the tone wasn’t bad

Also, the cab response switch seems a little gimmicky. I can hear a difference when I play the head through it's internal speaker, and I hear no difference playing through my 3D printed cabs. I intend to experiment with this feature when I get around to really integrating this amp into my recording setup. In terms of tone, I'm not going to dive in too deep here; If you want to know what the amp sounds like, watch videos and/or listen to clips and let your ears be the judge

Depending on what your long term musical goals are you may be wishing you got the 100watt instead of the 50 pretty quickly. With no FX loop OR even an audio out (that doesn’t mute the speaker) the 50watt version falls on its face in a gigging environment. If you’ll ever want to plug into a PA or use all those cool foot pedals you’re $1200 into over the past 10 years, skip the 50 and get a 100. Partially my fault for not researching the capabilities hard enough but honestly would have thought a company like Boss would include some fairly baseline circuits like an audio out and fx loop in all the amp models

I really liked the added features of the 100-watt model, but honestly, it was just too much for this application so I settled on the 50-watt. Pros: - Excellent variety of tones possible. - Installing the Boss Tone Studio adds tremendous versatility and tweakability (I would consider it absolutely necessary)

This thing has a bunch of built in Boss effects. It's loud, very loud!. The clean sounds are crisp, clear and professional sounding. The reverb is excellent: spring, plate and hall
