I've heard a lot of praise for certain modeling amps like the Boss Katana, specifically the 100w MK2 version. I've also heard that tube amps are the way to go, just because of the superior tone, even if you miss out on some features. I unfortunately need to keep this purchase around $400 or under, because I'm already buying a guitar, so it's hard to justify a huge purchase upfront.

From what i've read tube amps sounds better but as i have no intention to buy pedals, and a laptop will be near the amp pretty much always so I'm leaning towards the Boss Katana (although i think it's overpriced in my country). I could also get a used **Blackstar id core** for half the price of a Boss Katana, or a **Blackstar Silverline** for a hundred less than the katana. My musical preferences include almost everything between folk and blackgaze so something that "does everything" would be preferred.

The "read tube amps sounds better" thing was true several years ago and not so much anymore.

Blackstars are mediocre IMO.

I would take a Boss Katana over everything else you mentioned.
