The DS-1 and BD-2 are good all purpose distortions. The BD-2 doesn’t distort as hard as the DS-1 since it’s more of an overdrive pedal.

After playing guitar for nearly 4 years I feel like it’s time to get my hands on a few pedals to be able to create different sounds. I already have a vox wah pedal and a treble booster by KAT. I‘d really like a pedal for distortion and I came across boss pedals, but their price is quite cheap at around 70-80$. I paid nearly 250$ for my KAT so I wonder, are pedals for 80$ any good? Apparently Boss pedals had been used by prince, so I feel like if it’s good enough for freaking prince, it surely will be good enough for me.

[QUESTION] are boss pedals good?

 It just sounds really good and gives you that kind of hard clipping edginess to your tone in a way that doesn't make it sound muffled at all. Now the second rule and I think the more important rule and this is really true for just about any distortion or overdrive pedal or even fuzz. So bear with me because you might say this is kind of a cop-out rule, but the cardinal rule with this pet, even though it's orange, it's not. it's not

 So what we're going to do now is we're going to dive back in and hear these tones that I'm talking about. We're going to start with something kind of similar to what we're doing at the beginning. There, I'm going to start with the Sg going into the amp overdriven and then do it again with the amp clean on the same setting so that you can hear how much of a difference it makes when you go into an overdriven amp versus a clean amp. Character of the pedal sounds the same, but the delivery is very different

 it gives me like one of the strategies tones I've ever heard. It just really emphasizes the strat pickups and it just sounds really great. That's not what most people would think of when they think of a pedal like this, but it's a usable application with a humbucking guitar. Or if you turn the tone way back

 So we have three controls here, a distortion filter and volume control. Distortion for the amount of gain, volume for the overall volume and the filter control doesn't work like a tone control so it's more like a low pass filter. So when we turn it to the left it gets more bright and when we turn it to the right it gets more low end. So this is my clean guitar sound
