Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro vs Drop + HIFIMAN HE4XX

All in all the DT 990's are very good cans; they just aren't for me. Still I debated for quite a while as to whether or not I would keep them. But, in the end I decided I would send them back. UPDATE: I didn't want to give up on Beyerdynamics, so the day after I returned these 990s I ordered a set of DT-880 Premiums

Final thoughts!!! Get the 4xx’s if you want really nice-full extended bass in an open back, awesome soundstage, don’t mind a little heat, and enjoy vibrantly bright headphones, than try the 4xx’s out you might not even be disappointed even satisfied if you enjoy rumbling bass, with a big soundstage.

Where my AKG K240S's were unable to give me bass where I knew there should be some, the HiFiMan HE-4XX gave me back my missing bass, without "muddying" the trebles, but, at the same time, the treble doesn't have that "sparkle" (another term I now actually understand after reading all those audiophile forums) that my AKG had. Very well could be because I tore all the foam and mesh out of my AKG to make them more open and airy. I hesitate to make any modifications to the HE-4XX, but I've seen some mods floating around regarding taking out the filters, etc. We'll see - I don't really like the idea of hairs/dust getting into these drivers

I've had two of this same exact headset. They are very great with everything except that they are not durable at all. That's the only reason it is not a 5 star review. From constant use of putting them on and off they snap at the screws where you adjust the size

We'll see as time goes on how they hold up. This is my first pair of planar magnetic driver headphones (I'm comparing with Sennheiser HD599 and Grado SR80i). I think there is definitely a break-in period, and the longer I listen to them the more they warm up and sound more natural, less sterile and digital. The first thing I noticed was a huge stereo field, wider than any headphones I've had before

What I got my eyes on: I found a very reasonable price for a Beyerdynamic DT990 pro on amazon that ships to Turkey with very low import fees (150+20$ vs 270$ or 2300 Turkish Liras local price). But I've heard that they have very sharp treble, The bass is not a problem though. I've also looked into ath m50x and ath m40x which also seem pretty good especially since the m40x is very affordable at 140$ local price vs the 170$ Beyerdynamic and 210 USD ath m50x. Budget - 150$-200$ or around 1750 Turkish Liras

Even so, they were still comfortable. When I noticed how flat they'd gotten, I purchased HM5 Velour memory foam pads and they fit fine (after some stretching) and feel great

These headphones are very comfortable very good build quality I would’ve rated higher but The cord that was included only one side works tried them on my laptop tried them on my phone only one side I can hear music other than the faulty cord I’m happy
