Additionally, a room tile and character card have some small tears on them. The characters are all made of cheap plastic. One of them was not set properly and leans so much it barely stands up. I have some friends that own an older version of the game and it is of much higher quality than the game I received

In addition, the box is worthless, because none of the pieces seem to fit well in the wells that should be designed to hold the pieces. The instructions are not at all helpful regarding proper storage. So for now, all the pieces are randomly mixed up and flying all over the inside of the box. The outside box is actually the same good quality as the Santorini game box, which is unfortunate, because the inside of the box isn’t functional, and I was planning on recycling the whole thing

Once either the betrayer's or the rest of the players' victory conditions is met, the game ends and an epilogue wraps things up quite nicely. This game really captures the B-movie horror/thriller/sci-fi vibe amazingly well! I love thematic games that immerse you in the game and allow you to create your own stories and Betrayal At House On The Hill definitely gives you those tools. The art and all of the components are great and add to the feel of the game. While the combat rules can be a little clunky at times and a few of the clips used to keep track of the various stats were a little loose and wouldn't stick, there is so much about this game to love, that I have to recommend it wholeheartedly! If you like co-op games, exploration, hidden traitor mechanics, or have ever wanted to play out an episode of Scooby Doo or a B-movie, do yourself a favor and check out Betrayal At House On The Hill!

Also, this game can be intense, so I would not recommend for younger kids below 10 years of age (the box recommends 12 and up). There are occasionally situations where the cards or the rules/game-play conflict with each other, but the second edition explains to go based off the cards/gameplay when that happens. Also, in situations like this, the players can simply agree how to handle a situation so that everyone still has fun. An example of this: we had a player "stuck" in the Junk Room because it was impossible to roll high enough to pass the sanity check required to exit

I got this for my 3 kids for Christmas, ages 6-12. My 12 year old really took to it and loved playing with the different god cards. The basic way to play was easy enough for the 6 year old to learn and enjoy. She had a harder time with the more advanced rules, but since you get to choose how hard to make it, that’s ok
