 That's some of the gold classes, but this is kind of well It's one of their highest end sorts of knives It is also the first knife that Benchmade has made that is an integral handle which means that the handle Itself is made of one solid chunk of titanium. There's no sandwiching. There's no liners There's no it's just one chunk with the holes for the axis lock here to attach in the bottom there the axis lock cut out The pivot and a clip that's about it So that makes it pretty interesting So let's go ahead and do a size comparison right quick right here is your Ontario rat number one and the rat number two beneath It here just to give you a sense of that right here is your Spyderco Delica Um and then maybe the most relevant size comparison here is this little guy right here This is the Benchmade 940-2 so the g10 version of the Benchmade 940, and I'll do a slightly more Kind of up close comparison what you can see here were that the the blade itself is slightly thinner than on the 940 and in The knife itself is also slightly thinner than 940 This is a very compact little knife for what you're getting there then finally against sort of the competition although way way lower in the Pay scale is your Spyderco PM-2, so there you go. That's the that's a size comparison Let's go on ahead and jump into the good the great the bad and the ugly of this particular pocket knife Okay, so on the good side first off I love the fact that Benchmade has moved to a smaller and more subtle first production label used to be just Splattered all across the blade now

 It's just one chunk of metal So it's not like you're gonna have a liner come loose You have fewer screws that you need to worry about with disassembly in this case exactly one of them the disassembly becomes really really simple If they've done well like this one is all you need to do is unscrew this and then pull the blade out And then you're done. That's really frustrating I understand the wanting to use you know have one production line and whatnot But for you really high-end stuff put your best sharpener at that station Make sure that the one who is God's gift to sharpening handles the $425 knife and give the newbie 115 of ideally something cheaper still I don't know that just bugged the crap out of me And this is the Benchmade bug out by the way pretty new knife by them But it really just bothered me that a cheap Benchmade by Benchmade standards had a much better blade Sharpening than my expensive one did here too, and that was that was just really frustrating and so Benchmade That that's that is so Benchmade. That's such a QC stupid mistake that they could have done better So and that's what's ugly is that the sharpening was uneven on a $425 knife using an on standard clip screw pattern And I'm not quite sure I trust Benchmade yet in terms of QC although Hopefully this is evidence that they're getting better. I mean the anthem's got some things it needs to work on hundred percent They need to fix the magical unscrewing pivot they need a better clip with a standard screw pad And they need to take care during sharpening do a little better than budget ones and the price could probably used to come down A little bit, but the thing is even with all that said this is my favorite knife The Benchmade has ever made and my first high-end knife was a Benchmade I have love for the brand hundred percent But this is really the best thing they've done because not only is it an excellent cutting tool with a stellar blade But the integral choice here is just brilliant it plays perfectly to their strengths It's a solid ambidextrous lock with a solid ambidextrous body and the axis lock really shines on these bearings and the integral design Given its simplicity construction will probably help to deal with some of the QC things They've had going on and guess what if they've done the axis lock better than they've ever done an axis lock, too They banished the Omega Springs and just done better And so this knife in addition to being good is a knife that I've actually kind of fallen in love with and I did Not expect that at all because it's standing in the pocket. Nice to carry great steel great blade Joy to use and manipulate and it's just it's been finding its way into my pocket in a pleasurable like oh man cool I get to carry that today And so that's blown me away because after you know I thought I was gonna buy this do a quick review sell it take a bath and then move on with my life But instead as soon as I finish this I'm gonna be packing this guy up Sending it to a buddy to get retumbled anodized in a color that isn't ugly and then resharp it And then it'll go right into my DC drawer because this is a really spectacular knife And given all that this knife is absolutely 100% a gem

 The locking spring has a different coil configuration (I love it). The CPM-20CV blade is razor sharp and only needs some leather stropping to maintain it's razor edge. It's worth the price.

My Favorite Knife, Ever.....

 This is going to be the best feeling Axis Lock, like I said, that I've ever handled. With the standard Axis Lock system, you do get this kind of like gritty feeling. And I've experienced that gritty feeling with pretty much every Benchmade knife that I've owned and also handled that has the Axis Lock built into it. The thing is, this feels a lot more linear than, I guess, sandpapery

 The bearings on here are very smooth. I don't have any issues with it. And then the blade itself, 20 CV steel. I think that kind of belongs into that 400 to $500 price range

 I don't really think it's to the point where it is jumping, but it makes it look a lot better aesthetically. Deploying the knife, this thing is super special. The action to this thing is next level, something that I've never felt in any other Axis Lock knife. For those of you guys that have been returning to the channel, you guys might know that Benchmade is kind of like the company that I have most collected

 The Chevron milled handles look fantastic in pictures. I am a photographer guys. When a knife looks good in a shot, then I really appreciate that design. The axis lock again guys is very fidget friendly and I could do this all day long and not get bored

 Spyderco have just have that there's something special about this particular knife above and beyond. Maybe some of the other ones - and I don't know for sure you know I'm not that not really into that much, but I trust Brian there's something about it. You know. Sometimes they just get things right, and things are just done perfectly well or close enough to perfect that they they just give you the fizz and you just enjoy them right

Why I'm Switching My Pocket Knife

Benchmade 940 in S90V and carbon fiber. My dad's gift to me for getting through highschool. Take that that thing everywhere, only had to sharpen it once. 

What is your absolute favorite knife.? You love it with both your heart and soul.

TLDR: It feels great, I LOVE the weight and looks of carbon fiber but doesn't seem like its a good value.  I'm not a knife enthusiast or a collector, but I wanted something I could carry and forget its in my pocket for everyday tasks. I like premium products like carbon fiber and the idea behind S90v being a steel that keeps its "working edge" for longer periods of time. Overall I can't say i'm crazy about the product for the price

  - Finish of the blade has such a machined look with thin parallel lines vertically across the entire blade. I don't know if that intended but for cost of the blade it just doesn't look like a premium product.  - The blade when closed it is not centered, and I think it may touch the inside of the carbon fiber on the clip side as the deployment in my right hand is slower then when I deploy it in my left hand and i'm right handed. The bevel on the knife is larger on the face then it is on the back side, this maybe intended i'm not sure but I can image this causing some issues while sharpening the blade

I wanted to love this knife.

 This is no big deal because benchmade stands by their products, but now I have to send it back because I paid too much for these issues to exist. Really do love the fit and finish of the carbon fiber scales though. The light weight of such a nice sized knife is incredible as well. It feels like I am carrying my much smaller BM Sequel

. Benchmade replaced the blade on my knife after a few weeks. It is excellent now. Super sharp and centered

Quality control issues, but knife is good overall.

The very first benchmade rep I contacted made me question the possibility of a counterfeit cause Amazon is not a authorized seller. Benchmade has no QC!!!

 For the size, this is easily the lightest knife I've ever encountered. Ultra-lightweight, travels well, pocket clip allows for a reasonably deep pocket carry, and blade length is legal in my state. It looks and feels pretty durable, the open back design makes it a breeze to clean, and it's classy enough that this knife straddles the "gentleman's knife" category. Those who are knowledgable about knives and/or read on any of the knife forums will understand what I mean when I say that this is a perfectly good choice for a "grail knife

 The blade has a beautiful stonewashed finish that looks great with the carbon fiber - better IMO than a regular stainless finish would look, and it showcases the fine grain of the (very carbide-heavy) steel along the edges.  This blade is everything that I look for in an EDC. For the size, this is easily the lightest knife I've ever encountered. Ultra-lightweight, travels well, pocket clip allows for a reasonably deep pocket carry, and blade length is legal in my state

 I'll post a follow-up after I've sharpened the S90V blade freehand... from what I've read, it's a PITA to sharpen

 The AXIS-lock system is buttery smooth after working it in a bit, and the blade has a rock solid lock-up. The carbon fiber scales are almost holographic, in that they change appearance depending on your viewing angle - very cool! The blade is S90V, which should take on a keenness, and hold an edge, as good as (or better than) anything else out there. The blade has a beautiful stonewashed finish that looks great with the carbon fiber - better IMO than a regular stainless finish would look, and it showcases the fine grain of the (very carbide-heavy) steel along the edges.  This blade is everything that I look for in an EDC

"  My one gripe follows: This knife comes in a standard Benchmade blue box, upon which is printed "Handle with care. Benchmade knives are packaged extremely sharp." This was not the case for me, as the knife arrived with an edge somewhere between a butter knife and an old Buck 110 that I haven't sharpened in a couple years. I've read that this is a common complaint with Benchmade knives, so I don't feel that I got a "bad one" or anything
