Baratza Sette 270Wi vs Eureka Mignon

If you can help get her close to dialed in for the beans she likes then it’s just one button on the grinder to dose, tamp, then one button on the breville.

No need to hold the button down, the timer function shuts off the grinding automatically (just do a few experiments to dial-in the correct grind and the correct grinding time, both of which settings survive a power-off, the grind setting because it is a manual control, and the time setting because the manufacturer thought this thru ... you can even lock-out the time adjustment buttons so that no one can re-set your chosen time accidentally without knowing the magic button-press sequence to unlock, clever!)

When looking for an entry to mid-level Electric Burr Grinder, there are several names that will inevitably pop up, and this is one of them: the Barraz...

That is, no doubt about that. The/\s/ second thing I really like about this grinder is/\s/it's really fast. It's really, really fast. I can/\s/ easily...

Great machine thus far. Only complaint is how loud it runs. If I could slow it down to reduce the noise I gladly would.

Debated between this or the Baratza lineup. What made me settle on this over the Baratza were a few key features based on a video comparison from Seattle Coffee Gear. The first is that it is quieter. Not completely silent, obviously, but much quieter than any blade grinder and audiably quieter than the Baratza

Grind size distribution- well there are more fines than I was expecting compared to my old cheapo burr grinder, but i don't believe it's a high percentage by weight. A few larger flat shaped grinds get through, but again I think it's not a significant percentage. When the chemex drawdown is done, the grinds at the top of the bed seem very uniform. Again, I don't have much to compare to

The grind dial is labeled 0-5, but that means literally nothing as the dial can go all the way around like ten times. This was my first espresso grinder and I had nobody to teach me, so I had no guidance on grind size. Due to the dial's numbers meaning nothing, I couldn't find a starting point online either. Two months of putting way too fine grinds in, leading to extreme channeling, leading me to spend hundreds on new baskets, expensive calibrated tampers/distributes, and a naked portafilter

As before, the operation is (very!) loud and the grind is right on. I've changed the rating to 4-stars because of the failure after 4 months; that failure is balanced by the excellent support. At this point I feel the design concept is just too good for 3 stars, but the failure rate isn't at all impressive and can't be ignored. Update #5 (2 Apr 2019): The replacement 270Wi is still running exactly as it should

2) Speaking of the size, it's a perfectly compact machine that fits easily on the counter of my small kitchen. It's a perfect compliment to the Gaggia. 3) Clean, minimal aesthetic for the those who love simplicity — especially in the matte black. Very understated

You have to use the plastic cup they ship you. Don't turn it on with the plastic cup or it can get confused and stop half way. The coffee adjustment is nice, but I have to put tape on it or the grind wanders on the fine adjustment. It's not quite setting your money on fire, but it is not a buy once grinder

I am a little bit of a coffee snob, if you know what I mean. I brew my own filtered coffee all the time, mostly pour over, but occasionally I will brew a french press or aero. After spending much time learning about how to brew excellent coffee, I knew that having a good grinder can go a long way. I picked this grinder because it was in a price a could afford and had everything I was looking for in a grinder
