 To that point, the Audix D6 does a pretty good job of capturing upper mids, but you may not like the particular frequency it accents.  -K

 The microphone is certainly better-suited for hard rock or metal, as it does tend to give a somewhat "scooped" sound, but in a mix, it is not that big of a deal.  When recording bass cabinets, I would recommend a good, balanced condenser microphone to go along with this one to make up for the loss of mids.  Just like the SM58, there's a video of this thing being run over by a tour bus so you can be sure that dropping this thing isn't gonna break it and it's not gonna ruin your day. As far as specs, this thing has a cardioid polar pattern, a frequency response of 40 hertz to 15 kilohertz, a sensitivity of negative 56 decibels and an impedance of 150 or 310 ohms. Now I'm passing the microphone between my hands to illustrate what kind of handling noise you can expect out of this microphone in a live situation. Now I'm spinning around the microphone to determine what the actual polar pattern is and how the audio changes as we move around the mic's capsule

 If you are interested in this mic, it'll set you back around 100 bucks as per usual, links in the description. And for this review, I have the mic connected directly to the 2i2 2nd gen, I will do no post processing but I may boost the audio in post so check the doobly-doo for that information. Now let's go ahead and talk about what comes in the box. You're obviously gonna get the microphone, you dope

 So when it comes down to it would I recommend this thing? Yes it's a hundred bucks. It will likely outlast you. You can get SM7B like tones with some accessories. It's great for podcasting with some accessories and for live instrument micing it is amazing because it does so great at background noise rejection and on electric guitar

 You get a zippered pouch which offers little to no cushioning, you get a microphone clip and I do not recall if it comes with a 5 eighths to 3 eighths inch microphone stand adapter and you get some documentation that I no longer have. As far as the build quality, what else can I say but this microphone is an industry standard for a reason. The majority of this mic is metal but at the top you do have a little bit of plastic that you should be aware of. It's an end address microphone and on the bottom you find the XLR port

Shure SM57 Dynamic Mic Review / Test

I’ve used this and a Shure SM57 next to each other and the similarities in quality was astounding. For either vocals and podcast/streaming, the $100 SM57 is a great pick if you like dynamic mics and don’t wanna break the bank on the SM7B. Also make sure your interface has a decent pre amp if you want it to get enough gain for your use case.

For the purpose of background noise rejection I can easily recommend the Shure SM57 (or SM58) and if you pair that with a Native Instruments Komplete Audio Interface you will have yourself a really solid setup for a modest price all things considered. SM57 - 130$ CAD.

 You don't have to stick this thing up to your mouth to be heard, even when whispering. Everything comes through loud and clear and so natural sounding. I play sitting on a stage stool with the mic a few inches in front of my strings, pointing at my face. It amazed me the first time I tried it

 Still does. With the pop filter, I can hand-hold it as close to my mouth as I want, and no pop. I will probably still get the SM-58 one of these days, but don't need it with this one, just want it. If you don't have one of these mics, just buy one, you'll love it
