Audio Technica ATH-M50x vs Drop + HIFIMAN HE4XX

There’s a little of the upper mids sucked out which most people won’t want anyway. Also, they are super easy to drive, so no need for an amp. Noise isolation is mediocre. Overall, a perfect headphone for your average person who “wants a nice pair of headphones” but doesn’t want a big commitment

Where my AKG K240S's were unable to give me bass where I knew there should be some, the HiFiMan HE-4XX gave me back my missing bass, without "muddying" the trebles, but, at the same time, the treble doesn't have that "sparkle" (another term I now actually understand after reading all those audiophile forums) that my AKG had. Very well could be because I tore all the foam and mesh out of my AKG to make them more open and airy. I hesitate to make any modifications to the HE-4XX, but I've seen some mods floating around regarding taking out the filters, etc. We'll see - I don't really like the idea of hairs/dust getting into these drivers

(score: 90/100 points) Pros –It does a variety of tasks really good with no real weakness at anything. It’s best for listening enjoyment…not professional studio monitoring as advertised. It has very warm sounding vocals, a balanced sound (with very slight favor to lower mid range & upper bass), and comfortable (loose) fit on my ears/head. It handles thick, polyphonic music passages with ease without distortion…while keeping the main melody/vocals volume and tone quality still cutting through with warmth

Final thoughts!!! Get the 4xx’s if you want really nice-full extended bass in an open back, awesome soundstage, don’t mind a little heat, and enjoy vibrantly bright headphones, than try the 4xx’s out you might not even be disappointed even satisfied if you enjoy rumbling bass, with a big soundstage.

They are a bit muted in the sound signature which can make them less fatiguing than other, more analytical, headphones. Mids - A bit to high level for me, it tended to make punk rock music sound very close and muddied Lows - A bit boomy but very spacious Audio Technica ATH M-50x Highs - Quite good representation, a bit cold though Mids - Nothing special, no major issues though Lows - Too over-emphasized -----------------Comfort--------------- Beyerdynamic DT 770 - Winner Perfect. I wore these on multiple occasions for more than 7 hours and never noticed any pressure points or discomfort. The headband is larger than average to distribute the pressure

These headphones are very comfortable very good build quality I would’ve rated higher but The cord that was included only one side works tried them on my laptop tried them on my phone only one side I can hear music other than the faulty cord I’m happy

No scratches, no loosened parts, no cracks, NOTHING. These are SOLID. If you were to choose one last pair of headphones and head out to Narnia where you won't be buying any new ones any time soon, these would be the ones. What's more, I recently looked for someone who dismantled them online, or straight up broken them, to have a better look at their insides and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the ENTIRE HEADBAND is made out of METAL

We'll see as time goes on how they hold up. This is my first pair of planar magnetic driver headphones (I'm comparing with Sennheiser HD599 and Grado SR80i). I think there is definitely a break-in period, and the longer I listen to them the more they warm up and sound more natural, less sterile and digital. The first thing I noticed was a huge stereo field, wider than any headphones I've had before

hence price, and 4 star rating. But, if you want quality sound at an affordable price, without breaking the bank. Pick yourself up a pair of these bad boys.

And if it's what you want too, then I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better value. I got mine gently used in the original box for $80 on my lo...
