Audio-Technica AT4040 XLR Condenser Microphone Review (Rap/Pop Vocals)

 Alright, so today I got another microphone review audio technica AT4040 I recently did

 a review on the audio technica AT2020 USB microphone like two months ago if you want

 to check that out links in the description and I did one on the XLR version also so those

 are below feel free to check them out but today we're doing the audio technica AT4040

 so what comes in the box this beautiful box right here well you get a nice black case

 that the microphone comes in you also get a carrying pouch you also get this shock mount

 see most microphones don't come with a shock mount that's this nice I like it and you get

 your documentation and that's pretty much it so yeah let's go ahead and get into some

 tests first I'm gonna do a couple distance tests so right now I'm about six inches away

 from the microphone now we're about a foot away from the microphone now we're about two

 feet away from the microphone what's up my name is Brian I'm about two feet away from

 the microphone now we're about five feet away from the microphone I don't know I'd say we're

 about eight feet away from the microphone now eight feet now I'm gonna go ahead and

 you know make some noise so when you record you should try to record in the booth because

 there's less noise and it's easier to mix once you finish your song so like do you hear

 lots of distractions back here probably recording the booth now I'm running this microphone

 through the personas audio box 22 VSL it has 48 volt phantom power you need 48 volt phantom

 like some raw rapping stuff you're gonna hear it with no effects and then I'm gonna put

 get into the music test so I got this awesome AT 4040 audio technical microphone and we're

 gonna do a little freestyle on it and I hope you guys like it I didn't write this so

 now I'm gonna soften it up a little bit change the beat do a couple melodies throw a little

 bit of auto tune on my voice and you guys can hear what that sounds like

 now this microphone also comes with a low end cut off switch and a little gain switch

 so if you're being too loud like if we're gonna capture some loud guitar we can turn

 that on and also the low end so if there's like some rumbles in the microphone or like

 if you're really up close to the microphone then it'll help take away some of that low

 end and come out cleaner so that's pretty much it hope you guys like this video I hope

 what means the most right the AT4040 to be honest I've used the AT2020 I've used the

 blue bluebird I've used the Newman TLM 103 the TLM 49 and I've also used the Rode NT1A

 and overall this is my favorite microphone for like everything the rapping and the singing

 it also does guitar really well and I'm happy I picked it up so it's only $300 the Newman's

 run for about the Newman I had was like $1200 the 103 and the 49 goes for about like close

 to $2,000 so those are expensive microphones this runs for about $300 in the states so

 awesome microphone I would highly suggest it I will leave a link below if you want to

This product has been working since 2014 for me so the quality is great. The only thing you should consider is the pricing. It could be cheaper.

 It's not going to take it away completely, but you're going to probably notice a significant difference with those low ends. So now we're going to do a little test again, talking low, talking middle, talking high. So one more thing I'm going to go into with these switches, I'm going to engage both of them. So right now we have a low cut and a negative 10 dB pad, man, I struggle with that one

 But this one here is really getting closer to that studio level microphone. Studios use the AT4040 all over the place. And it's definitely that price point and that quality that you start noticing higher quality in your audio. So in this video, we will be going over the AT4040 and figuring out if it's the right upgrade for you from where you are to where you're going
