These are AT3600 standard mount (two hole with 1/2" spacing) moving magnet cartridges that will replace virtually any brand cartridge in any turntable which uses a removeable headshell and many that don't; if you see two screws holding your current magnetic cartridge in place, this Audio Technica will replace it. Don't waste time searching for a replacement stylus for your current cartridge when you can simply replace the whole thing for the same or less money!!!

 So, this is a very flat sounding cartridge, even though if you pull some graphics online, it doesn't look flat, but it sounds dead on flat. But because it is so flat in its response, I can say that this is one of the few cartridges that I own that has no sole. It doesn't color the sound in any way, it's just pure straight. The way it was mixed and equalized before it was cut into the record, that's the way that this cartridge is going to reproduce it

 And the grado black bass performance is much much better than the Audio Technica 100E, the Otophone OM-5E and the Sumiko Oyster. The grado black matches the Audio Technica 80100E for high frequency extension and detail but crucially without the sibilance

 However, if you enjoy high frequencies as part of your listening experience, this might not be the right cart for you. Personally I've enjoyed hearing mid range instrumentation that I haven't noticed before which is why I wanted to experiment with this cart. I also installed on a turntable powered by a tube preamp. Since tubes aren't known for their bass response, I thought a cart that focused on mid and low range would help make up some lost ground

I bought this for $80, specifically to see how a budget cartridge would sound. If you've installed a new cartridge before, I found this one easy to install and align. I have NOT had any hum issues as reported in some of the older reviews.  The first thing I noticed was Grado's focus on the mid and low range frequencies
