Recording video at higher quality nets better-looking footage with less visible compression artifacts. HDR isn&rsquo;t this monitor&rsquo;s strong suit. We recorded undersaturated color in this mode, as well as visible grayscale errors. And this monitor doesn&rsquo;t have the speed or Adaptive-Sync (FreeSync or G-Sync) to make it an appropriate gaming screen.

However, there are a few features you have to sacrifice for getting a cheaper model, as this one doesn't have any USB ports like on the Gigabyte or the S2722QC, meaning it's a rather basic monitor that provides a high resolution with fantastic text clarity.

If you don't need all the extra features of the more expensive options, you'll still be happy with this monitor, particularly with work use. Its wide viewing angles ensure the image remains accurate from the sides, and with impressive ergonomics, it's easy to adjust to an ideal viewing position. It also gets bright enough to fight glare and has good reflection handling, making it a good choice for well-lit rooms.

If you want something on a budget, there are a few great options for the office that won't cost you much. The Dell S2721QS is one of those monitors as it's a low-cost 4k display that's a step down from the Dell S2722QC in terms of features but still offers excellent office performance. Not many 4k monitors are available at a budget price like this one; the advantage of getting a 4k display over other budget 1440p monitors is that you get much sharper text due to the increased pixel density.

If you're looking for the best budget 4k monitor, they're becoming more accessible, and you can still find 4k displays for a cheaper cost. Most of the monitors in this price range are basic 4k displays geared toward office use and are meant for people who want the extra text clarity of a 4k monitor. That's the case with the Dell S2721QS, which is a simplified version of the Dell S2722QC that costs less. You don't get any USB ports, which is disappointing if you want to connect a laptop that doesn't have an HDMI port, but that's normal in this price range.

Despite the lack of extra features, the picture quality is very good and similar to the S2722QC. It has the same great peak brightness and good reflection handling, and while it doesn't have a dedicated sRGB mode either, the accuracy before calibration is still decent. It's well-built and features the same ergonomic stand as the S2722QC, so choosing one over the other comes down to if you need the USB hub or simply want to save some money.

If you're looking for the best monitor for watching movies on a budget, then look into the Dell S2721QS. It's a smaller display than the Dell S3221QS and has a different panel type with a few differences, but considering it's a low-cost 4k display that's good for media consumption, it provides good value for its cost. It has lower contrast than the S3221QS, so it doesn't look as good in dark rooms because blacks look gray, but that's the trade-off of getting a cheaper monitor. By looking for budget-friendly displays, you won't get the same gaming features on higher-end models, like the fast refresh rate, but since that's targeted more at PC gamers, you don't need that for console gaming anyways. This monitor has a lower 60Hz refresh rate, so you can only play games up to 60 fps compared to the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ, but the main advantage is that it has a high 4k resolution. It allows you to play games with sharp images and see more detail than on lower-resolution displays.

However, as it's a budget-friendly display, it's limited in features because it doesn't have a USB hub like the Gigabyte, so if you want that, you'll have to spend more with the Dell S2722QC, or you'll have to get a 1440p budget monitor like the Gigabyte M27Q. Still, if you don't need those extra features, you'll be happy with the sharp text that this monitor delivers.

Most 4k gaming monitors tend to cost more than regular 4k monitors, so if you want one, you'll have to be prepared to spend some money. However, if you're on a tight budget and want a basic 4k monitor for console gaming, you can get something like the Dell S2721QS. Although it's designed for the office, it still provides decent gaming performance at a low cost, and it's good enough for playing 4k games up to 60 fps from the PS5 or Xbox Series X. However, because it doesn't support HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, you can't take full advantage of the consoles, so you'll need to spend more on the Gigabyte M28U if you want that.

The 4k resolution helps result in sharp text, which makes it ideal for productivity as you won't have any issues reading text, and the 27-inch screen is big enough to open two windows side-by-side. Despite its budget price, it's a well-built monitor with impressive ergonomics, making it easy to place in an ideal position.

It's a good choice to use in a well-lit room thanks to its high SDR peak brightness and very good reflection handling, meaning you won't have any issues with visibility. For movies bigger is better, and higher resolution is better... I won’t stick to a 27” if I were you

LG 27GN950-B will get you higher refresh rate but costs more. This will be better than your current monitor 

So I got my first custom pc set up, and want to get a 2nd display for my wife to watch movies by my side. But couldn't find much infos on just which Display to get. I would prefer it to be an Asus one as my primary display is Asus vg27aq, which is a 1440p 144z display. I kinda like them to be the same in terms of aesthetic? 

I have read that getting dual monitors with different resolution and refresh rate will be a pain in the ass to get it working properly for simultaneous gaming on 1 and watching media on the other, is it still true currently?



Here are a few things I look for in the 2nd monitor 

• prefer VA panel, as it's best for multimedia consumption?


• 1440P? but I may settle with 1080 if the quality is not much off from 1440 for Netflix and such. I read that native 1080p monitor is actually better for videos? Is this true ?


• 60hz is all I need, as bumping it up will make it more pricey 


• Would prefer Asus monitor as it will look the same next to the vg27aq I have now. 


There are only 2 models in found online, which is the Asus vg278q, but this is an ips panel with 1080p and 144hz. The other is Asus va27ehe which is also an ips panel with 1080p but 75hz. Having a hard time finding 2nd monitor

* Asus  PA278QV (also too big and bit expensive but for now probably I would go  with this one and try to come up with something to fit it on my desk)   

* Gigabyte M27Q (too big and has problems with vertical scan lines with low refresh rates)

It  doesn't need to be high refresh, 60hz is enough, but it needs to have  low input lag becouse I mostly play single-player non-competitive games,  only sometimes I play osu but I'm not a pro so I don't need gaming  monitor. My budget is up to $350. I have considered those monitors:

I have found toggling the refresh rate in the display settings from 60hz to variable 40-60 and back fixes it instantly.

After some time (around 4 hours) that screen begins to flicker (not too much but to the point that it is really hard to look at).

What's weird is that this flickering goes on even if I unplug my mac. I think that screen has a hardware issue, but I'd like to know if any of you had that kind of issue before.

I want to return the screen but not sure if they will accept it (warranty wise) because it takes some time before starting to flicker

Any advice about my issue??

Mac M1 2020 + Dell screen flickers after some time

 Mine also has a physical defect and I was planning on returning it. Customer service was horrible to deal with.

Trying to pick any of these monitors for photography/film work with a decent black uniformity, contrast ratio and color accuracy. Am I looking at the right monitors?

 Viewing angle is very important to prevent fatigue. He has been using it for a month or so now and he absolutely loves it. He says he can set it up as two separate screen when using his laptop. I actually didn't think the Mac laptops did that
