Recording video at higher quality nets better-looking footage with less visible compression artifacts. And when you pair it with a flat profile, now an expected feature in mirrorless cameras, you get more leeway when color correcting footage. It's not unlike the difference between shooting in the lossy JPG format versus Raw for still capture.

You'll also want to get an HDMI cable, and you'll need to figure the best way to mount the recorder to your camera system. Atomos sells some coiled options, which cost a bit more than generic cables, but are worth it for the convenience and guarantee that they can handle the same quality video the Ninja is capable of recording.

 It has a crap ton of i o. The design is much better, at least in my opinion, and even though the black equalizer performs about the same on both having the color saturation on the dell makes that much of a difference so yeah the lg is 50 cheaper, but spending that extra 50 gets you. So much more, the only thing is that it doesn't have a true 10-bit panel but uses frc to simulate the 10-bit. I have no clue if frc performs identically or if it even compares to a true 10-bit panel

 That seems to be a direct competitor to the lg 27gn850, at least that's what you guys said in that review before we start i'm trying to hit 100 million subscribers by the end of the year, so for all you nom subscribers, if you guys could subscribe. That would be awesome. Okay, let's start with the basics. The s2721 dgf is 27 inches has an ips panel with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 and a refresh rate of hertz

 So the contrast is mediocre and not quite the 1001 that dell advertises, but this is unfortunately normal for manufacturers to do and to be fair, you won't really notice it. That doesn't mean i'm going to let it slide, because dell should either do better or just post the actual numbers on the box and not an estimate. The brightness and the 3.25 average lte, on the other hand, is fantastic for those that are not familiar with

Dell S2721DGF Review - WORK Hard, PLAY Hard

 The panel I got did not have any major backlight bleed. There was a bit of a noticeable IPS glow in the bottom left corner, but it was not any worse than other IPS panels that I've seen.  Edit 3/17/2021: Changing rating from 1 to 4 stars on behalf of J-Tech Digital's swift and cooperative customer service. A manager from J-Tech Digital reached out to me and offered to refund the restocking fee, which was greatly appreciated and resolves all of the issues I had with my return

 The contrast ratio is the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white that a screen can display. Having a low contrast ratio makes it so that scenes that should be black appear more gray.. We measured an 882:1 contrast ratio which is not very good

 As I just mentioned, the S2721DGF has an IPS panel., Where it fails in contrast, ratio. It excels in viewing angles. Having a good viewing angle means that the colors and brightness of the screen does not deteriorate at various angles

, Keep in mind that the highest refresh rate you can get through the HDMI ports is 144Hz, so you’ll need to use the DisplayPort in order to take advantage of the full 165Hz Of this monitor. You’ll also need a DisplayPort for the G-sync to work, but Freesync will work across all ports.. The controls are on the back of the monitor, with a joystick and some buttons to navigate through the menus

Dell S2721DGF Monitor Review (2020) – Dell’s Most Versatile 165Hz Gaming Monitor?

 I spent a lot of time, in fact. For the first time ever (literally), I bought a color calibration tool and used it with a professional providing guidance to ensure I correctly followed each step. Not even the color calibrator is able to make Dell 27" Gaming Monitor S2721DGF color-accurate! Not for work, not for gaming, not for casual activities.  There is no height, no angle, no setting that resolves my issue

 I find myself actively avoiding my workstation because it is such an awful tool. The monitor is a hundreds-dollar paperweight. I use the laptop instead despite the laptop being underpowered and a much smaller screen display.

 Not even the color calibrator is able to make Dell 27" Gaming Monitor S2721DGF color-accurate! Not for work, not for gaming, not for casual activities. The Tech Sites Are Right—You Will Never Get The Colors To Look Accurate

 4k was not an option because of cost and lack of HDMI 2.1. so I went on 1440p. Next I found a big issue with current monitor and console

 Many can do 120fps but you have disabled FreeSync and/or VRR (LG monitor). I found few model that worked but response time was in the slower side. Next I found that monitor response time don't work the same way on 60hz and 120hz. Many of them were bad at 60hz but amazing at 120hz (Asus tug monitor)

 As a hardcore gamer I wanted the 120fps. I decided I want to have 1440p 120hz+ FreeSync and VRR enable… 1ms response time with IPS display (everything works out of box no tweaking) At 1st decided to wait for HDMI 2.1 now as news started to come out the prices are insane $800-1200. My budget was $500

 Most of the other monitor 120hz work while FreeSync/ VRR is disabled. I play a lot of Destiny 2 and with the new Series X Bungie has enable 120 fps for online multiplayer. As a hardcore gamer I wanted the 120fps. I decided I want to have 1440p 120hz+ FreeSync and VRR enable… 1ms response time with IPS display (everything works out of box no tweaking) At 1st decided to wait for HDMI 2

 so I went on 1440p. Next I found a big issue with current monitor and console. Many can do 120fps but you have disabled FreeSync and/or VRR (LG monitor). I found few model that worked but response time was in the slower side

 We're getting 95% P3 coverage, outstanding IPS viewing angles, and reasonable factory calibration for grayscale. With the help of a full calibration, this is a great dual-use monitor for gaming and a bit of content creation, image editing, or video playback on the side. As this monitor is very similar to the 27GL850, it suffers from the same main downside, which is the contrast ratio. LG have traded black levels to hit high levels of performance, so the contrast ratio ends up below average

 Personally, I'd prefer the fast response times over deep blacks, but those that game mostly in the dark might be put off by the contrast and also IPS glow concerns. Based on all of this, I'm changing my go-to high-end 1440p 144Hz monitor recommendation from the LG 27GL850 to the Dell S2721DGF. When both monitors are the same price, I'd have the Dell options slightly ahead based on its higher 165Hz refresh rate and a few other minor considerations like factory grayscale calibration. Both are great options, but I feel the S2721DGF is offering just that slight bit more, which is enough to give it the edge

 On the rear, I'm not sold on the grilled area with LED lighting around the edge. It doesn't look bad, but it's not my favorite design. And outside of that area, I think it looks pretty good. All the outer surfaces are basic plastic, so no reason to get excited by the build quality, although there are no obvious issues with the construction-like dodgy seams

 The best thing to discover was that in all our important response time tests, the S2721DGF offers basically identical performance to the 27GL850. Overdrive works in a very similar way, performance throughout the refresh range is also very similar, and that means we're getting an excellent gaming experience with rock solid motion handling. If anything, the S2721DGF is actually slightly better overall, as it can push up to a 165Hz refresh rate, while the 27GL850 is just a 144Hz display. The S2721DGF also offers the same great mix of excellent motion handling alongside great color performance
